Life In A Lockdown – Week 11

Life In A Lockdown - Week 11

We are now in week 11 of the Life In A Lockdown linky.  I remember my first post in the linky, now we are in week 11 it is mad.  I wonder how long we will be writing about life in Lockdown.  So how has life been for us this week.

1) How are you feeling/coping?

With Lockdown in general I am coping ok.  There are areas that is leaving me stressed and frustrated.  I finally spoke to C’s consultant last week over the phone.  The CT scan was great and literally nothing is wrong, even things I had no idea about.  But she has no idea what is wrong so is emailing another Consultant as she feels she needs an endoscopy which she can not perform as C is 16.

I emailed her ME Consultant who we see privately, and asked about food intolerances and is there a link with ME.  I got this idea from speaking to other parents of children with ME.  He has confirmed that prolonged ME patients can develop dysbiosis of the gut and mast cell irritability.  Food allergy is rare but hypersensitivity in not infrequent.  I now have a Zoom consultation with him next month. I am still trying C on a lactose free diet just to see if it will help her.

2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?

Everyone says if you want to find something out Mums are the ones to do it.  I have been talking to other parents, joined some new groups and become Dr Mum after using Google to work out what is wrong with C.  We are getting nowhere here and she is in pain constantly, barely eating as it hurts more when she eats.  I am also keeping occupied with Education authorities, as we are having to fight for education for C next year.  If she was well it would be all fine and guaranteed, but if you have a child with an illness, it is just another battle.

3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?

We are going out more on walks and things, although on Saturday we went into town.  We new no shops would be open, but found M&S was so went for a walk around there.  It was really empty so felt safe enough.  We then went down by the river which was packed and decided to go.  Apart from that we have been home and staying in.

4) What advice do you have for others?

With things easing up, keep safe, if you go out be careful and be aware of those around you.  Stay in as much as you can.

5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.

I have mainly been looking for presents for my Mums birthday.  My Dad got her a Pandora bracelet for Christmas so have been looking at new charms for that.  My Dad leaves her presents to me as well, so have to look for both of us.

6) How has your routine been this week? (Question by Don’t Cramp My Style)

It has been all over the place, apart from my blog work, I have been dealing with C’s illness and education.  So nothing really structured has happened.

7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over in the past 7 days?? (Question by Don’t Cramp My Style)

We have been looking at Airbnb for when things ease up, so we can get a break away

How has your week been?

  14. I can’t wait to be able to just get out of the house and go somewhere for a couple of days, maybe by the sea. Eagerly waiting for that time to come especially as we had a family once in a life time holiday booked to Sri Lanka which was cancelled due to covid. I am back at work next week so maybe things will feel more normal then.
