Our lives before we have children are totally different. Gone are the lazy lie ins at the weekend. Having nights out when we want. Sunday afternoons catching up with friends.

Life Changes
When you become a new parent, life really does change. You have this tiny little person that depends on you 24/7. Suddenly, getting sleep at anytime is something you are grateful for. Lie ins are out for many years to come.
Nights out with friends or date night, can not be spontaneous, as you have to plan in advance and arrange babysitters. Although I found grandparents were always eager to help out. Plus as I now have grandchildren I am always happy to say yes.
Popping to the shops, or to meet a friend for coffee is like a military operation. Making sure you have everything you need, plus more just in case.

You Start To Think Of The What Ifs
When you become a parent, you find you start to think of the what ifs more, such as ā
- How will my family cope if I become ill
- What will happen if I die
So many questions go around in your head. You want to make sure that your family can survive and be ok if ever these become a reality. This is why looking for cheap term life insurance is something we all look at. For me this is crucial to have in place, and is more affordable than you probably think it is. It will also give you that much needed peace of mind.

Enjoy Family Life
Becoming parents is scary, even in the current climate. As long as your rent or mortgage is paid each month, your bills are paid, you have food on the table. Everything else falls into place, children grow too quickly. You blink and the newborn you came home from hospital with last week. I suddenly 18 and looking at starting their life as an adult.
It can be stressful, but being a parent can also be the most rewarding thing you can ever do. We have had our fair share of stresses, but my daughter and I have an amazing relationship. I am also a step parent to two boys, and it is always me they phone or come too. They always know their dad is around to hear the conversation.
How did you find life when you became parents?

Always worth considering before planning a family.
Stressful, yes, absolutely. Rewarding, yes – very! And it gets even better as time goes by.
No matter how prepared you think you are you never are. That is not a bad thing and it is the most rewarding thing you can do
I think before I became a parent I forget how much I valued personal space, some time to reflect and how much a meaningful conversation can do to one’s sanity. And yes, I miss my lie ins and eating out for dinner. Saying that my life has more meaning now. It’s lovely to see our children grow and pick up new skills that we taught them. I love their unconditional love for us and I can always go to them when I need a hug or affection.
