Day 15 and half way through Blogtober, the theme for today is how I practise self care. This is a tricky one for me, as I always put myself last.
Obviously, C comes first with her needs, we still need to be very aware of her physical needs, but also her mental health which is suffering at the moment. Then there is my husband who is suffering with bad knees and not forgetting my parents.
My Mum seems to think I should jump when she asks for something, I have a flip out moment, and go around saying shall I just stick a broom up my arse and sweep the floor at the same time. Or we can be having a chat about something, and right in the middle will say this needs doing or something. Which means my days are often busy with work, and everyone and everything else. Saying that I do find time to just take time out and have a bit of self care.

Coffee

I have talked about my love of coffee many times before. This helps me start my day, and a drink I do drink through the day especially if I am stressed or calming down from something.
Singing In The Car

Yes I am that person you see driving on their own, singing away. Sadly C does not share my love of singing, or maybe it is my choice of music. Usually once I have dropped her at college or on my way to pick her up. I stick on my spotify playlist turn up the volume and sing along.
This always seems to de-stresses me and makes me feel a lot calmer and happier. I have told C the challenge is on to get her singing along with me by the end of her course year. Also she is traumatised when we go to see my grandkids, as my Mum comes with us. She has to put up with both of us singing away. I do tell her to give in and sing along, which is usually answered by a grunt.
Soaps

I love my soaps, and every evening I tune in to watch Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale to find out what is going on. They are easy watching and I can just switch off and tune in.
I also have a guilty secret and love Married At First Sight. C thought it hilarious when I found a New Zealand series as well.
Relax

Find ways that help me relax can change day by day. It could be washing my hair and adding a hair mask, or painting my nails. Finding somewhere to get cosy and read a book.
It is important that we do remember us. How do you practise self care?

My way of de-stressing is definitely my morning walk with my music through my headphones and singing a long to it. I think singing is a great self-care. I have also start taking naps because I find a good sleep goes a long way
I agree nothing like singing along, it always makes me feel better
I am not really supposed to have coffee but once a week after one of my yoga classes I get a cup from a local coffee stand – it is the most amazing coffee and it just adds to my calm yoga experience.
I would hate to not be able to have coffee it is how I get through my day
These are all great ideas. I love singing away in the car and you’re right, it does relax you. My mum, sisters and daughters all like singing away too. We take it in turns choosing songs, so i love it when it’s my turn or I’ve got the car to myself lol xxx
I find it just gives me that chance to clear the mind, I am lucky I get the chance on the college drop offs, as C wont join in (she used to)
I love a good sing song in the car! All my favourite things right there! It’s so important to take time for ourselves.
I love my singing as well, luckily can do it most days now
I find listening to my favourite music and singing along helps me as I can still carry on getting things done at the same time!
I am usually driving, but it does stop me arguing and shouting at other drivers
self care is so important for wellbeing – I too love my coffee and soaps as well as reading and DIY ( when I can )
Watching the soaps is my escapism, I just get carried away with the stories
I am getting better at self care. It is hard when we have kids, we always seem to put them first. I love the soaps too and I never thought of watching them as me time. x
It is something we forget when we have kids, my soaps are when I sit down and switch off
Coffee is definitely a form of self-care for me as well. I use a french press and it’s a little morning ritual every day.
It is instant for me first thing, then depending on my mood, will switch on my coffee machine to make a latte or fresh coffee
My self care is rest,Music,Books and beauty treatments
I do love a bit of tlc and giving myself some beauty treatments I just don’t get time to do it as much as i would like
