Easy Orange Tiramisu

I do love baking and trying new recipes. I recently found a lovely recipe for one of my favourite desserts. Tiramisu, but this is with a difference. I am sharing how to make an easy orange tiramisu.

As always I make all new recipes to the letter, as this is obviously a tried and tested recipe.

Ingredients:

400 g (14.1 oz) tangerines + 3 tangerines for decoration
300 g (10.6 oz) ladyfingers
300 ml (10.1 fl oz) cream (33% fat content)
80 g (2.8 oz) powdered sugar
250 g (8.8 oz) mascarpone

Mold size: 18 – 20 cm (7 – 7.9 inches)

Directions:

  • Peel the tangerines and separate them into segments. Set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, whip the cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Add the mascarpone cheese to the whipped cream and gently fold until well combined.
  • Line the bottom of the mold with a layer of ladysfingers.
  • Arrange a layer of tangerine segments on top of the ladysfingers.
  • Spread half of the cream mixture over the tangerine layer, ensuring it covers evenly.
  • Repeat the layers: ladysfingers, tangerine segments, and the remaining cream mixture.
  • Cover the mold with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and the tiramisu to set.

Before serving, decorate the top of the tiramisu with slices of the remaining tangerines.

Slice and serve chilled, enjoying the refreshing citrusy flavours of this delightful dessert!

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Chilling Time: 4 hours or overnight

A Few Adjustments

As it was my Dads 80th birthday, I decided to make this instead of a traditional cake. They were away for his birthday so had this ready for their return. One of my Dads favourite desserts is also tiramisu, so this was a perfect opportunity to make and try the recipe.

I made to the recipe above and could not wait to try it. We did all like it but –

  • It was a little too sweet
  • Did not really taste of orange.

Not to be beaten, I dipped the ladysfingers in fresh orange juice, like you would with espresso when making a traditional tiramisu. I also cut the sugar down slightly and added grated orange peel to the mix to let the natural flavour seep through.

This in our opinion had much more flavour, the orange was not over powering but just enough. By cutting down the sugar it was sweet and creamy but without being too sweet.

I will definitely be making this again.

If you have some easy recipes you would like to share please send them in as do love a new recipe to try.
