Easy Homemade Ice Lollies

One way to keep cool during this hot weather, is ice lollies. Especially homemade ice lollies which the kids can help with making.

Lolly Moulds

What You Will Need

All you need is the basic ingredients, nothing fancy.

  • Lolly moulds
  • A blender
  • Basic ingredients: fruit, juice, yogurt, milk, or even squash

Fruit & Juice Lollies (No Blender)

Fruit Lollies

These are probably the quickest and easiest lollies to make. Plus a great way of giving your kids fruit. These are much healthier than those you buy in the shop

  • Fruit juice – whatever your kids love apple, orange or any other fruit juice
  • Chopped fruit to make it more fun – softer fuits such as berries, mango, grapes etc work really well

Just pop your chosen fruit into the moulds and then pour over the fruit juice and pop into the freezer. These take 4 – 6 hours to freeze fully

Creamy Yogurt Lollies

If you fancy a change or mixing up your lollies how about making some creamy fruity yoghurt lollies. A great cooling snack. These are also healthy enough for breakfast on a hot sunny morning

  • Greek yogurt or regular yogurt
  • A dash of honey or maple syrup
  • Pureed fruit or fruit compote

Very easy to make

  1. Mix the yogurt, fruit puree and add a little sweetener of honey or maple syrup. You can add berries as above to make it extra fruity
  2. Spoon into moulds.
  3. Freeze overnight.

Chocolate Banana Lollies

These are my guilty secret and something we love to make in our house. They are so easy and kids love to get involved.

  • ripe bananas
  • Melted chocolate
  • additional sprinkles – nuts, sprinkles anything you like

These are just so quick and fun to make

peel the bananas depending on size either cut in half or just straighten one end. Dip in chocolate and roll in the additional coating and freeze for 4-6 hours.

Squash Lollies

squash lollies

The kids want lollies, and you have nothing in. You will always have squash. These are the quickest and easiest lollies to make

  • Squash of your choice
  • Cold water

Just make up your squash a little stronger than you would usually make it to drink. Pour into the moulds and freeze for 4-6 hours

Pro Tips for Lolly Success

  • Run moulds under warm water for 10 seconds to release easily
  • Label with a marker if making different flavours
  • Store extras in freezer bags to save space

Making homemade lollies is so easy you can even make smoothie or milkshake lollies. The kids will love being involved and you can all cool down later once they have frozen.
