Diary Of A Menopausal Mum -25/04/2022

Happy Monday, I hope you all had a lovely weekend, and an easier start to a Monday morning than I had. I thought I had broken my emails, as tried to download an attachment and got a weird screen. Then unable to access email or my control panel. Yes I panicked and cried, and now all sorted and calm again. As we head into a new week it is time for my Diary of a Menopausal Mum – 25/04/2022 post.

Last week, I shared that both myself and C, were finally paying a visit to the hairdressers. For both of us it had been over a year. With C taking after my with having thick hair, her hair was weighing down on her head, and causing headaches.

I found a hairdressers with a lot of recommendations, and booked us both an appointment. We both walked out of there, happy and with much lighter heads. It did mean I needed to recolour my hair and another win as finally found the colour I wanted.

Last week, I also shared that C had an interview for college. On Wednesday afternoon, I dropped her off for her interview, and went for a coffee with my Mum while we waited to pick her up. C, said it had gone ok, and had seen all the animals (it is an animal care course), and answered some questions etc.

On Thursday morning, she had an email saying she had been accepted (on condition she gets her grades). We were all so happy, and C and I headed out for a girls shopping trip and lunch out to celebrate.

I am not sure what is wrong with me at the moment. Even after the lovely weather and getting natural vitamin D. I am feeling worn out, tearful and my mood changes from happy to snappy as quick as anything. I think it is just me needing to be able to just switch off, but I can’t. An idea of my mood is I just threw some washing back into the wash basket I got out of the machine, because it got caught. I am hoping it is just my age. But it is not helping my family and if I am not happy and drop everything to help, then I get moaned at.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and ready for the week ahead.

  1. Have not been to a hairdresser since before March 2020. I looked up how I could cut it myself and found a video on youtube. Also paid my youngest a small bit of pocket money to cut the length. With the cost of living crisis I can’t afford a hairdresser now. But I do understand a session at the hairdressers can pick your mood up though!

  2. Ironically I was having a conversation with some ladies over the weekend about the many symptoms of menopause, including the mood. It’s quite the experience to work through!

    1. As women we suffer so much, and then when we think we have it under control wham here comes the menopause and throws your life into a nightmare again

  3. I hope your mood gets better, maybe it’s just something in the air! We went to a nail salon for the first time in years and got our nails done last week, which was so much fun!

    1. I think it is something in the air. I love doing my nails and C has just started growing hers, she was a picker. So we have a girls time doing our nails as I do them myself at home

  4. Thank you for sharing how you’ve been feeling, I think it’s important to share and know you are not alone!

  5. I’m glad you were able to get to the salon and have a nice afternoon get touch-ups. Sometimes a little pampering does wonders for the soul. However, I’ve been experience an unusual level of fatigue…it might be the seasonal change which I’m hoping it is or allergies. Hopefully as the weather begins to warm up and stay consistent we’ll all start feeling a bit better.

    1. I did need that bit of pampering and switching off, I am feeling very fatigues plus a few other issues which really isn’t helping my moods

  6. That was great news about your daughter. I’m so happy for her. Also, sometimes we have mood swings. Just relax and make yourself busy. Try to do some meditations or read some books, trust me, it will help you feel better. Have a great week ahead!

  7. Glad you both had your haircut sorted, that reminds me I need one getting. I always feel a lot better once I have had my hair done. Hope your mood swings settles down. I find walking helps calm me

    1. I am so happy with my hair and luckily now have the colour I have been trying for. I walk daily with the dogs which is great for clearing the mind

  8. A trip to the hairdresser is something I really need right now. I am happy you were able to get an appointment and get some pampering. Congratulations to C! Wishing her all the best.

  9. I miss a lot going to the hairdresser, it seems absurd but in Italy for months they have forbidden us to go there if not vaccinated (MADNESS) so if all goes well maybe for July I will be able to return to make sense of my head xD

  10. I really hope that C gets the grades she needs. It sounds like it would be a great course for her to do. Moodwise, think you need a short break as it may help. Where are we going? lol x

    1. I think she will get her grades, I am a right stress head today lol, even C is moody. We do need a break maybe that post I shared on Facebook last week lol x

  11. Your hair appointment sounds so nice! I am glad the two of you were able to go and get that taken care of.

  12. Oh no! Computer drama is not what you want to start with on a Monday morning. I’m glad it’s sorted now.
Congrats to C for getting accepted on the college course that she wanted.
So sorry you are not feeling great at the moment. I hope things are better soon x

  13. I haven’t been to a hair dresser in years. I’ve been trying to find one in our new city and I’m having the hardest time.

  14. Nothing like a good cut and colour. I know what you mean about mood I’ve been the sam recently. I feel like there is just too much to do and it’s making me irritable!

    1. A good hair cut always makes me feel better, and I colour my hair myself but been having trouble finding the right colour, but this one worked great and had so many compliments on it

  15. You really had quite a week! Good that you managed to go to the hairdresser, you remind me I need to go too.

  16. Hi, great news about your daughter, sounds like the course could be great. I know about moods like this I can’t say enough about HRT to be honest its been a life changer for me

    1. It is great news, she is so happy about it, as are we. They have not given me hrt, but I do have other ongoing problems which are getting me down and have an appointment in June, which I am hoping they can sort things out as that is not helping with my moods

  17. Oh gosh, it does sound like you’ve had a difficult start to the week. I’m pretty sure I’m perimenopausal and I can empathise with a lot of the symptoms you’re experiencing. I’m trying really hard to work on learning to relax more, but it’s not as easy as it should be! I hope the rest of your week goes better x

    1. Thank you, I honestly thought I had done something to my emails, but they are all working now thankfully. Welcome to the world of menopause, it really is totally different to what you are used too x

  18. My mood has been a bit off last week, I am meditating more and I will start to work out, I know this will help a lot.
