Diary Of A Menopausal Mum – 14/-2/2021

Every week, I write a weekly round up post in the view of a Mum who is also menopausal. It is where I can look back laugh, cry and share everything that has been going on this past week. This weeks Diary of a Menopausal Mum post, will certainly get a few laughs. Last week was certainly full of up and downs. Grab a cuppa and sit back for my rollercoaster week, in Diary Of A Menopausal Mum – 14/-2/2021

Health

health

You will know from last week and previous weeks, how C is suffering with abdominal pains. On Wednesday, after my MP emailed me about something else. I emailed back about C and hospital A&E and how over 3 weeks we are still waiting on an urgent scan appointment, as A&E can not do this.

He emailed the CEO of our hospital on Thursday, and on Friday we received an appointment for 21st Feb. This is still too long to wait, and C is getting worse by the day. She can barely sit or stand and lying in the strangest positions to try to be comfortable. We are also on the cancellation list for this week in case one becomes available. I am fuming that it takes your MP to get involved to get an appointment.

My Embarrassing Moment

embarrassing

Last week we took my car for its MOT, it failed which we knew it would. We asked the garage to do the repairs and we sourced one part. We received this on Friday, so my husband drove me down there. His car is a Range Rover, I use this car all the time, and I suppose my only defence is recently I have been in the drivers seat and not the passenger seat.

We arrived at the garage and I went to get out. I put my feet on the little shelf bit and somehow my feet stopped and my body carried on going. Apparently in slow motion I fell straight onto my knees in front of everyone. The pain was horrible and I managed to get into the car, and I think in a bit of shock as I felt hot and weird. Unfortunately, my husband witnessed it all.

I think I badly bruised my knees as it seems a bit easier today although walking up and down stairs is still very painful. Lesson learnt, slide off the seat and miss the shelf bit and go straight to the floor.

What I have been loving

meal prep

One thing that I find a chore is the weekly food shop, and trying to come up with new meal ideas. Recently a friend posted a link to Hello Fresh, where I could enjoy a discount on my meal box with them. I used Hello Fresh years ago, and still make some of the meals. It is also through them that I finally learnt to cook rice perfectly.

I decided to give them a go again, and just received my second box. I am loving choosing the meals, and enjoying cooking something new. So far no disasters or meals we do not like.

I have three free boxes (you just pay postage) and vouchers where you can receive £46 off your box. If you would like to try Hello Fresh message me, or let me know in your comments and I will email the link to you. I will get a credit if you sign up to them.

This is not a sponsored post as this is something I have purchased privately, but loving. Also taking the pressure off the weekly shop and meal preparations.

  1. Bless your daughter and bless you falling over!! I have done that so many times, I am terribly clumsy so dont worry, you are not alone! I need to try these Hello Fresh boxes.

  2. I sound just as accident prone as you! I seem to fall all the time and drop stuff. I hope you are ok now.

  3. Oooohhh noooo!!! Are you ok and how are your poor knees? I hate it when things like that happen. Can absolutely relate to the slow motion falling LOL I did something like this, except I got my feet caught in packaging and face planted right outside a busy cafe!

    1. My knees are not too bad now luckily, I feel for you face planting outside a busy cafe, my mother in law did this two weeks ago her face looks awful as she wouldnt stop her fall

  4. Sorry to hear about your fall! It is ridiculous that C is having to wait so long, I hope it gets sorted for you soon.

  5. Your fall out of the car sounds quite painful, but we’ve all been there and fallen over, so don’t feel too bad about it. My fiance is away more now and I have been tempted to try hello fresh or something again for when hes away x

    1. I am known by family and friends for being the clumsy one, I am forever doing something, but this was the best for a long time. I love the variety with Hello Fresh and it has given me new ideas for family meals

  6. I hope your knees are healing well. I can’t believe you had to get an MP involved to get an appointment. That is shocking. Hope she gets the help she needs at least.

    1. They are recovring thank you, honestly I it is a nightmare we were in A&E yesterday and confirmed inflamation markers and she nearly shot through the ceiling on examination but still sent home

  7. I have tried Hello Fresh before but I wasn’t impressed. I used one of these free offers as well, to try it out, but the portions I received were really small and also the quality of the ingredients wasn’t the best. Maybe I was unlucky.

  8. Sorry to hear about your fall, glad it was not that serious but I can imagine how you must have felt. I do love HelloFresh as their recipes are so inspiring

    1. I think the worst thing about my fall is my husband saw it and said it was slow motion, although thankfully he did not have chance to record it for all to see. I am loving Hello Fresh

  9. I hope you manage to get a cancellation for C this week. I can’t believe how hard it has been for you to get an appointment which is meant to be needed quickly!

    1. Still trying, I have it in black and white they did not realise it was an urgent referal, also hours in A&E last night as she is so ill but still nothing

  10. Hope your knees are ok and your husband is looking after you. I would be fuming at not getting an appointment, hope you get seen soon

    1. They are a lot better just a bit bruised and battered now. I literally lost it today, you will not believe what has been going on here but going to go and sit in A&E later and not move

  11. Sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope you find out what is wrong soon. Hope your knees are on the mend too!!!

  12. Oh I am glad your knees are okay, absolute ouch! It is a shame when the MP has to get involved in what should be something so straightforward I agree x

  13. Ouch, I hope your knees are OK! That is shocking that you have to wait to long for an appointment for your daughter, especially as she is in pain!! I would be fuming too. I hope she gets seen sooner that this.

    1. My knees are fine, just bruised. I just don’t know what to do, she can not sit or stand and sitting waiting hours in A&E just to be sent home as they need a scan is not fair on her and pretty pointless
