Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 07/05/2025

It is Wednesday again, and this week has flown by so quickly it doesn’t seem possible that we have flown through another week. It also means that it it time for my Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 07/05/2025.

This Week

This Week

On Friday it was 3 months since my husband died. It felt to me as if it had happened yesterday. I feel like I am moving away from him so fast it is scary.

Friday afternoon, I went shopping with C and we treated ourselves to new pj’s and socks. This has become our thing and I suppose our comfort blankets. We then met two of her friends and went to see the new Marvel film. Which C said we have to for Dad as he loved the Marvel films.

Sunday

As it was bank holiday weekend, my friend was having a bbq. I did nearly not go as it was the first big social gathering I had been to since we lost my husband. I text her to say how I was feeling, and she said I will look after you. It was a lovely afternoon/evening and it was nice to get out and do something normal. We did leave slightly early as it was so cold.

The next day I had this pain down my right neck and all the way up to my head. I assumed I had got a chill from the wind.

Tuesday

I felt a little weird when I woke up, looked in the mirror and the right side of my face was swollen. I have an infection. Luckily my dentist could see me and I am now on antibiotics and an appointment for an extraction. I am hoping the antibiotics kick in today (my face is just as bad as yesterday), as I have to contact tomorrow and get stronger antibiotics which I really do not want as they make me feel so ill.

This weeks activity that C is wanting to do is crazy golf. I am just waiting on the weather before booking tickets.

Little Purchases

Little Purchases

I made a couple of little purchases this week. I love my curtains in my lounge but they are so old and I was looking at them the other day and they are looking old.

We are having blinds fitted next week, and they would not go with the blinds – well they would but they are about 10 years old. So I treated myself to some new ones. They arrived yesterday, not got them out yet to make sure I ordered the right size.

I also have a lovely big vase, my Mum got me it years ago with silk flowers to match my living room. At the moment I use it for storing my tea lights for my wax melts burner. So I ordered some silk white roses as they were our flower.

Recipes

Fruity Chicken & Sweet Potato Curry

C and I have tried a couple of new recipes, and a new one today which will hopefully be nice. Sadly we forgot to take photos but I will try to get a new recipe live this week. Both are chicken of course.

Fathers Day

Fathers Day

Although Fathers Day will be emotional in our house. I have started working on my Fathers Day Gift Guide. There are some lovely gift ideas for Dad and will be going live soon.

  1. It is good that you are getting back to a normal routine. I am glad you are finding joy in small moments in your life.

  2. Tooth/gum pain is one of the worst in my opinion, I hope it is resolved soon and that you get better. I hope next week brings a smoother vibe and more to look forward to!

  3. I am so with you and swear that time flies by faster and faster the older I get. I do hope you have recovered and are feeling amazing by now!

    1. Time is going so fast, too fast these days. I am now on a second course of antibiotics and still slightly swollen but nowhere near as bad as it was

  4. Very glad to read that you’ve tried a couple of new recipes this week. Have a nice weekend!

  5. Totally get where you’re coming from! Some weeks just feel all over the place. Hope things start to settle down soon! Sending you a virtual hug!

    1. My curtains are very old and we had talked about getting new ones. So thought why not it is not a major change but little things are ok

  6. It’s so disappointing to lose a tooth but I also woke up with one side of my face like a balloon one day. I wasn’t sure whether to go to A&E or back to the dentist. As I could still see out of my eye on the swollen side, the dentist told me to come in to the surgery for an extraction. That fixed the problem but the gap really troubles me.

I hope that you and yours, somehow, get through Father’s Day.

    1. My face is still a little swollen and in pain but it is improving. It is not nice having an extraction but sometimes it is the only way. I am dreading Fathers Day but have some plans with C to mark the day

  7. I hope you are OK, not nice having pain especially dental pain. I am also glad that you decided to go to your friend’s BBQ, little steps are good to help you through x

    1. The swelling is going down, the pain is still there though. I am glad we went to the bbq as it was definitely out of my safety zone

  8. I love that you changed your curtains because the new blinds were coming. It’s going to tie the room together so well.

    1. I havent put them up yet, I have a unit in the way which I will have to move anyway so will put them up when the blinds go up next Wednesday

  9. That loss is such a hard one. I’m so glad you and your daughter have found something that makes it a bit easier on the both of you.

  10. I hope yourinfection gets under control quickly. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to friends

    1. It came from nowhere, am hoping it will be feeling a lot better tomorrow as will have had a full day on the antibiotics. Had a lovely time with my friend was supposed to see her today but had to cancel due to my face

  11. good to try new things – try keep the mind focused – onwards and upwards
