I am at that stage where I have no idea what day it is. I honestly thought it was Thursday today, but I keep being told today is Wednesday. Which means it is time for my weekly Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 29/04/2026.
Sorry this is now a day late, I literally got this far yesterday before having to stop.

My Week

I literally have not been around much at all and seem to be living in hospitals.
Health
So after my dad having his post op appointment and was in for the plate to be removed from his mouth last Tuesday and a new thing put in its place. On Thursday he woke with his face and neck swollen. I spent the day trying to speak to the department to finally be told to go to A&E. So we get there at 5 and left at gone 11pm. They could not get the new plate back in his mouth and honestly, I could not cope hearing my dad in so much pain.
Friday
We had to be back for 10am to see the team and they decided they wanted him to stay in and we had to wait for a bed. Early afternoon I said to Mum did she think my Dads lips were pale and she agreed. A bit later we realised no one had checked him, there was no news on a bed and he had not had any medication. We were told to go to A&E and they would page the team.
The triage nurse took one look at my dad, did not like how he looked had him straight through for oxygen and as we had to leave he was being given morphine and more.
Saturday
Dad was finally taken to the ward midday and stayed on the ward until Tuesday when he was discharged
Yesterday
He fell and collapsed at home on the hard kitchen floor. He blacked out, so 999 was rung as he banged his head. Another trip to A&E where he was there all night, he has cracked a bone in his chest and we needed to see if it was going to affect his spinal cord
Grief
I have been struggling a lot this week, not only with my dad. But I have missed my husband so much more than usual. Everything is on me and I have no support system to take the slack. I just seem to be holding everyone else up. Hopefully now I can relax a bit now and have some time for myself and C
Future Planning

There is going to be a lot of change this year as C heads of to University. I am so proud of her, especially with everything she has been through. I am also dreading her leaving me, but excited to hear all about it.
We have started shopping for university, and also planning a few trips to where she will be studying so she can get her bearings and be happy getting herself around. It will also give us both a bit of time away to recharge and relax
