Ramblings Of A StressedMum -07/06/2023

Health

Last week, I shared that I had been called in for a face to face diabetic appointment. This was following blood tests to find out what was causing my itching, which is still driving me mad.

Yesterday, I had my appointment and saw the diabetic nurse at our surgery. She is lovely, and it is confirmed I have diabetes. She gave me a lot of information, and answered my questions. I have been put on medication which should help in reducing my sugar levels. While she was ringing through to the Dr to get the prescription drawn up. I was looking through a booklet she had given me. One section said about using sugar free syrups in coffee. I asked her if this would be ok. While waiting for my prescription I ordered two syrups and looking forward to trying them. I may be able to drink a few more coffees.

A Mindfield

I have to increase my medication which I now have to take daily, for three weeks. Then see my GP in four weeks. I spent most of yesterday on Diabeties UK website, trying to get my head around everything. Then yesterday evening found a lovely Facebook group. This has given me so much information. I now feel ready to tackle this and face it head on. Hopefully I can get my sugar levels under control, and just be diet lead.

Fathers Day

Fathers Day

It is only a couple of weeks away until Fathers Day. I have been adding to my Fathers Day Gift Guide. If you re still looking for some inspiration, I have hopefully got you covered.

What I am Loving

startrite canvas shoes

As a parent you do all you can for your kids, to keep them safe and healthy. They grow so quickly, and we find that, yet again we are replacing something they have out grown. We always get their feet measured and make sure we buy sturdy school shoes. That will obviously last, but support is also very important. Which is why a lot of parents shop at Start-Rite.

With the nicer weather coming along, we are going to be spending more and more times out and about. Which means having lighter shoes. We should remember not to forget about how important it is, that we maintain the quality and support their growing feet need.

Which is why I am talking about Start-Rite Summer shoes. I received the Start-Rite Lovehearts to review. Obviously, I have not had my little helper to model them for me. But, as someone who has purchased many pairs of children’s shoes, You can tell they are sturdy and will protect her growing feet. I am going to purchase a pair for her sister. So they have matching, and will look so cute together.

The best part is you can wash them at 30°c and have them looking as good as new. I will of course be sharing pics of the girls through the summer in their canvas shoes.

  3. sorry to hear that you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes, it’s really strange as my mum has been diagnosed this week with it, and they’ve said it was caused by some other tablets that she was taking. I can’t believe Father’s Day is almost here, where is this year going? x

  9. It’s never easy when you’re given a new diagnosis on your health but I promise it will get easier as we will adjust. There are so many sugar free products out there and sugar alternatives that can help make it easier to adjust to a low sugar diet. I hope you’re okay Sam. Maybe at least this way, your itching will stop

    1. It is not easy, but I will do this. My blood monitor is coming today, so I can monitor that. My medication is being increased weekly to 3 times a day. This now means that I have to eat breakfast daily which I don’t usually do. C is helping me find and try sugar free products. I will get this down and hopefully into remission, as apparently you now always have diabetes
