Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 03/09/2025

Here we are again on a dark and wet Wednesday morning. Somehow we have stumbled through another week. Some of you have started with the back to school while others are clinging on to the last few days of lazy days. This must mean it is time for my weekly round up Ramblings Of A StressedMum – 03/09/2025.

This Week

Health

On Thursday C and I headed to Hammersmith Hospital for her POTS testing. As I had no idea about where it was or parking, we decided to get an Uber there. The appointment was very informative and we learnt so much. The lovely lady who saw us and did the tilt test was amazing.

It turns out C does not have POTS, she has hypermobility and stretchy archeries. Which means they stretch and her blood pools, her blood pressure drops and then her heart pumps harder to get the blood circulating properly again. Once the letter comes through we need to look at testing for Ehlers-Danlos syndromes or EDS for short. Honestly, there is always something to get on top of and learn about.

Also we have found out today that the Botox injections C has been having for her chronic migraines. Which is the only treatment that has worked for her is being stopped as there is no more funding. So we are now back to the drawing board with trialling new medications.

Plus a bit of good news, she is gluten intolerance but not coeliac which is a huge relief to the both of us.

Night Out

On Saturday C and I headed over to our friends house. This is my husbands best mate since he was 16. His friend was out with a lot of my husbands other friends so we had a girls night out. With a lovely meal and then a few drinks with another friend. The men met up with us at the end of the night.

It was lovely, but so difficult as the first time I have been there since losing my husband. Plus I still struggle with being around couples as it just hits home so much more. But it was lovely being out and laughing over memories and not having to drive home at the end of the night.

Grief

Yesterday, was the 7 months anniversary of losing my husband. I think this has been the hardest one yet. But I also think it is because September is our wedding anniversary month as well. I ended up giving up on everything and dragging C out for a walk around the shops.

A Pick Me Up

As C is not back at college until next Monday, apart from going in for an hour on Friday to get her time table etc. My granddaughters are not back until next Monday either. I am having a trip out to spend a day with the girls. This is always my happy place and I am really looking forward to our trip out

Christmas Gift Guides

Christmas

I am honestly getting inundated with items for my gift guides for Christmas. I do love my gift guides as much as I love reading through all the gift guides. They are hard work, but they are great as I can just sit and work on them on and off.

  1. My niece has POTS. She has been struggling for years after an operation on correcting her spine went wrong when she was 14. She has that spine condtion that Princess Eugenie has to have an opertaion for. But unfortunately for my niece it went wrong, then she had various complications, was wheelchair bound for a while, then discovered she had POTS.

Sending you and your daughter lots of hugs this month. x

  2. Anniversaries can be really hard but it looks as though you’re doing well occupying your mind and your time – even if it doesn’t feel like it.

Good to read about little bits of progress with C’s health tests but sorry to read there is no longer funding for the Botox injections.

I always enjoy your gift guides so looking forward to them in due course. Also looking forward to hearing how the budgies are doing.

    1. I am dreading the end of the month and our first wedding anniversary without him. I am keeping busy C is making sure of that or me.

I am gutted they are no longer funding the botox as it is the only treatment so far that has worked for her

I am loving writing up my Christmas guides there are some lovely items on them

  3. Another tough weeks for you. I can imagine how difficult it is around couples, particularly those couples that you were both friendly with. You didn’t mention your car, have you managed to sell it. Looking forward to your Christmas guide

    1. It is really weird as I do love spending time with our close friends and still talk about memories. But it is the little things when around couples that gets to me. No my car is not sold plus I have an issue with my new one which is annoying me but hopefully a quick fix

  4. I hope you have a fantastic girls trip out, seems like a great distraction. It’s really frustraiting that the Botox isn’t being funded, I hope they have an alternative for C’s headpain.

    1. I did have a lovely trip out, I have no idea about the migraine plans for nw, the botox is the only thing that has proved to work for her. So will be trial and error from now on for a while

  5. I am so sorry the funding for C’s meds were stopped, this is beyond sad. I hope you find new meds that are covered.

  6. It’s good to hear that you have cleared her of POTS at least. I’m glad to hear that you managed to get out and see friends over the weekend.

  7. You are amazing. So many things are going on with you, but you still handle it. Will visit your giveaway.

  8. Ooof. I’m sory to hear that C’s Botox therapy is no longer available, but I’m so HAPPY to hear she finally has an answer regarding her blood pressure issues. I hope that can be easily treated.

    1. I know, when we saw her Neurologist months ago she did say that it may be discontinued and then we got the phone call yesterday. Now it is looking at alternative treatments. Just need to wait for the letter to come through so we can start to move forward

  9. I’m glad you managed to have at least some relaxation and spending time with loved ones while also going through medical issues. I know it can be so tough. And C is so lucky to have you. ♥️
