Love My Dog (Or Guinea Pig)  – New Research Reveals Pets Help To Bag A Date

  • Dating profiles that feature pets receive 5% more matches on Tinder
  • Two thirds of UK young adults are more likely to swipe right on a dating profile featuring a pet
  • 26% buy their pets a Valentine’s Day present

Ah, love is in the air. Valentines Day is just around the corner and new research by online pet and veterinary supplies retailer, Animed, shows that dating profiles photos featuring cats and dogs help fire cupid’s arrow. For those looking to refresh their dating profile and increase their chances of bagging that dream date the answer comes in the form of a wagging tail and wet nose.

The research also showed that certain dog breeds capture hearts more than others. Leading the pack is the lovable and oh-so-affectionate Labrador, loved by Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Harry Kane. Following closely behind is the tall, dark and handsome German Shepherd (Ben Affleck’s pooch of choice) and the ever-smiling French Bulldog and Staffie, adored by Hugh Jackman and Tom Holland.

“We all know that pets are the best judge of character”, says Laura Sommer, Senior Marketing Manager for Animed, “so a dating profile featuring a beloved pet sends all the right messages – kindness, empathy and a romantic side. Who wouldn’t fall for those big brown eyes”?!

A word of caution, though. It appears some animals may set hearts fluttering but not in a good way. Snakes, tarantulas and the famous 200lb fish catch pose are a turn-off for almost three quarters of date searchers. But, as they say, there’s someone for everyone!

Interestingly, the research revealed that Valentine’s Day isn’t limited to treats and cuddles between partners or dates. 15% include their pet’s “signature” in a card to their Love and over a quarter of UK adults buy their pet a Valentine’s gift. Animed is the one-stop shop for the perfect pet Valentine’s gift including treats, toys and cosy blankets. It also goes without saying that nobody wants bad breath on Valentine’s Day. Animed’s large range of dental products ensures even pets are smelling sweet!

So, turn up the charm and get a (preferably) furry friend onboard to create the dating dream team!
