Feeling Good In What You Wear

Feeling good in what you wear, makes such a difference to how you feel. It is the same as if your hair is not styled right. You just feel uncomfortable. Wearing clothes no matter whether sitting at home, going to the shops or a night out. Does have a significant impact on our confidence. Of course it is also how you feel on the inside as well as the outside.

confidence

This applies to men as well as women. I am lucky my husband has the same thoughts of me for when we go out. He loves to wear a suit or smart jeans with shirt and jacket or jumper. Where as some men just do not feel comfortable which shows and go for their go to clothes.

Below I am sharing tips on how to feel comfortable and confidence in what you wear.

Wear Clothes That Fit Well

Wearing something that fits, makes all the difference to how you feel. I was going out a few weeks ago to a party. Already knowing what I wanted to wear and getting ready chose my dress. I put it on and I looked like a sack of potatoes. Not sure how, but I must have lost weight as it just hung on me. I chose another dress in the end, that fitted well

  • Choose clothing that fits your body comfortably and complements your shape.
  • Tailored or well-fitted clothes can enhance your silhouette and make you feel more confident.

Dress for the Occasion

Along with feeling comfortable in your clothes. Which will then make you feel more confident and not wanting to hide. Or awkwardly pulling on your clothes. Dressing for the occasion is always important. For example you would not wear your best going out dress to go to the park, or do your housework.

If you are going to work or to a party or wedding. You want to dress well and look good. Rather than have people notice you for wearing something out of place for the event

  • Consider the context and dress appropriately for the occasion. Feeling well-dressed for the situation can boost your confidence. Multiway dresses, are great for this as they can be worn in a variety of styles. Which you can alter depending on your preference.

Wear Colours that Boost Your Mood

Although I love black and I do have a number of black items in my wardrobe, Colour can also boost your mood. I do tend to wear more colourful clothes in the summer. Step out of your comfort zone of blacks and greys. Which we all tend to move too. Add some colour to your outfit.

  • Choose colours that you love and that make you feel happy and confident.
  • Different colours can evoke different emotions, so experiment with shades that resonate positively with you.

Express Your Personal Style

For my husband that is easy, he can buy a suit, well anything really and it fits great and looks like it has been tailor made. He is always at some point when we go out, complimented. It has taken me a long time but I have finally found what suits me, and I also feel confident in wearing. I have been told I look classy and elegant. This does make me laugh as right now I am in leggings and baggy jumper.

  • Embrace your unique style and wear clothes that reflect your personality.
  • Don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns, textures, and accessories to create a look that feels authentically you.

Invest in Quality Pieces

Most of my clothes are bargain buys. Like most men have a suit in their wardrobe for weddings and funerals. Women should have a few items for certain occasions. Best time is looking in the sales as you can get some great discounts.

  • Invest in a few high-quality, timeless pieces that you love and that will last.
  • Quality fabrics can make a noticeable difference in how clothes look and feel.

Comfort is Key

This is a no brainier for me. If you ever went clothes shopping with me or getting ready to go out. You will be familiar with me saying, I have to be comfortable. If you are not comfortable for no matter what reason, it will show.

  • Prioritise comfort when selecting your outfits. Uncomfortable clothing can distract from your confidence and well-being.
  • Pay attention to the fabric, seams, and overall feel of the clothes.
  • Have clothing for day and evening, clothes that can be accessorised for both. Not forgetting workwear such as tactical pants for women which are comfortable, hard wearing and great for those heavier jobs.

Experiment and Have Fun

This was something I never did when I was younger. I knew what I liked, I knew sizes and dress lengths etc. When I started to look at different styles and tried them on. I realised that I should broaden my wardrobe.

  • Don’t be afraid to try new styles or experiment with different looks.
  • Fashion is a form of self-expression, and having fun with your wardrobe can be empowering.

Accessorise

accessories

For men this can be watches and ties. For women, there are so many accessories from jewellery, to handbags. Adding your own personal touch to an outfit. Will give you comfort that you have now made the outfit totally different to someone else who has the same outfit. But also gives you a bit of comfort.

  • Accessories can also be an easy way to update or change the look of a basic outfit.

Grooming and Personal Care

One thing to remember is that no matter how great your outfit looks and feels. Grooming and personal care, is just as important. I always have to shower and style my hair, I know this would show if I did not do this before having an evening out,

  • Take care of your personal grooming, such as hair and skincare, to enhance your overall appearance.
  • Feeling good about your personal care routine can contribute to feeling confident in your chosen outfit.

Declutter Your Wardrobe

cluttered wardrobe

We all love buying new clothes, and if like me you have your go to outfits you put on all the time. Buying new clothes is great for body confidence, but you start to run out of space. I did combat this by storing away my summer clothes during winter and vice versa. My husband loves a good sort out and makes me go through my clothes before storing away and getting rid of clothes that I have not worn.

  • Regularly declutter and organise your wardrobe to ensure that you have a collection of clothes that you love and that make you feel good.
  • You can donate the clothes that you no longer wear

Remember that feeling good in what you wear is a personal and subjective experience. The key is to prioritise your comfort, express your unique style, and wear clothes that make you feel confident and happy.
