Think about portion sizes
Portion size is a big one, especially as we can often load up our plates without thinking about the calories on there.
A good way to help with portion sizing is to measure the ingredients where necessary. It may also be helpful to put the food on smaller plates. This will help to control the amount of food being plated up.
Remember moderation is key
Moderation is an important part of making sure everyone is eating a healthy amount of food but that the food itself is a good mix. There’s no such thing as good or bad food – it’s just food. Of course, there are certain foods that should be enjoyed more in moderation than eating on a daily basis. However, it’s all about the calories that are going into the body that will impact weight gain or loss.
Understand what calories are best for the person individually and provide those calories desired, whether it’s to lose weight, gain it or maintain the same.
Choose foods known for their health benefits
There are certain foods that are going to provide more health benefits than others. Some are nutritionally high in value and can be a lot more effective in improving the health of the household.
Where can I buy smoked kippers is a question that’s often asked online, along with other hard-to-find foods not typically found down the local supermarket. Kippers and other fish are notable to mention when it comes to healthy food. Fatty foods like avocados are also good for the body.
Don’t skip breakfast
Remember that breakfast is quite possibly the most important meal of the day. It starts you off in the right way when it comes to supplying energy to the body and it can be the first healthy dish of the day. Don’t skip out on breakfast, even if food early in the morning isn’t something that’s enjoyed.
Try to find foods or drinks that can be consumed in the morning and provide some level of sustenance that the body needs for the day ahead.
Be wary of salt and sugar content
Salt and sugar are two ingredients that consuming too much of can be quite dangerous for the body. They can both have detrimental effects on the body. It’s important to try and be wary of what foods have these in them and to control the salt and sugar content of food where possible.
Improving the household’s health through food can make a big difference to the health and well-being of everyone.

I think the best advice is, everything in moderation is okay. Even if you eat too many fruit it is not good for you and if you’re only eating fruit and veg it is also not good for you. I think a little bit of everything is the best way of staying healthy. I’m always making sure my children’s plate as a portion of carbohydrate, protein, vegetables, diary and fruit and that is for every lunch and dinner. Breakfast is usually some kind of fortified cereal with milk and a fruit
I agree with everything in moderation, and I certainly feel it if I have been not eating properly
