How To Make Your Home Feel More Like You

Whether you’re renting a property, or are looking to buy a family home. It’s important that you’re able to make a house a home. After all, your home should be the one space in which you feel truly comfortable. Where you are able to relax, and decor plays a huge role in achieving this goal.

With that in mind, here are some top tips that you can use. Yo put your inner interior decorator to the test and make your house feel more like ‘you’!

Choose a colour palette you love

Many home design guides encourage homeowners to choose simple, sleek colours, but this can quickly get boring! As a result, whether you’re decorating your bedroom or kitchen. Don’t be afraid to let a little colour into your home. Choose a few complementary colours you love, and let your creativity run wild!

Buy bespoke furniture

One of the easiest ways in which you can transform an ordinary room in your home into something entirely unique is by purchasing bespoke furniture. After all, this means that the item, be it a desk or TV corner. Will be one-of-kind, with a design that is based upon your own style and taste.

Similarly, incorporating a comfortable sectional couch into your living space can provide a cosy and spacious seating option for your home, making it perfect for relaxation and gatherings.

To make the most of your bedroom, space-saving solutions like multifunctional furniture and smart storage can help you create a clutter-free, relaxing space while maximizing every inch.

Hang some wall art

Another way in which you can show off your personal style at home is by hanging some wall art. Now, thanks to sites such as Etsy. It’s never been easier to find affordable (and unique) art for your home, from vintage movie posters to canvas prints. Alternatively, you could make your own artwork!

Decorate your walls with your photographs

Using your favourite family photographs to decorate your home. Is a great way to make the space feel more like your own – after all, your memories will then be displayed throughout. While there are plenty of ways to display these memories, such as by purchasing some unique frames or having them turned into canvas prints, creating a photo wall is perhaps the most stylish.

Banish clutter

As mentioned previously, your home should be a space where you’re able to truly unwind – and you probably won’t be able to do this if you’re surrounded by clutter and chaos. As such, you should strive to keep a well-maintained and clutter-free home. While this doesn’t mean you should spend every waking minute cleaning, you should have some kind of rota or schedule in place. Eliminating clutter helps you to make the rest of your space look its best, and gives you more room to explore new interior design ideas.

Be bold

In order to make your home feel more like ‘you’, you should ensure that you are making choices regarding the decor and interior design that reflect your tastes, even if they are a little outside of the box. For example, if you’ve fallen in love with some furniture that is a little ‘out there’, don’t stop yourself from buying it on the basis that other people may not think the same. After all, it’s YOUR home, so it should be about you. Furthermore, standout or statement furniture items serve as great focal points that you can base the rest of your decor around!

  1. Great ideas. I do love wall art. I also wish I had the time to declutter at the moment as clutter drives me insane but with a 7 year old in the house, it’s hard to declutter when she is around haha. I do love bold colours too.

  2. What excellent suggestions! My thoughts rarely go beyond hanging my favourite art so I need to expand my thoughts into areas such as bespoke furniture and being bold.

  3. My walls are covered in photos, it definitely makes it feel more homely. I’ve also recently managed to keep a few house plants alive! So I’ve bought a couple more that hopefully won’t die as well!

  4. I actually need to do everything you listed even though I have lived in my house for 3 years. We haven’t even got any photos on the wall yet. I guess when I finally find some time to myself, I just want to sit back and relax. But I do need to think about making my home more like my home. Repainting the walls would be a start as it’s still all white. Photos on the wall would be second
