How To Look And Feel Good
30 January 2023

One thing I find through the winter months, is just how much my skin and hair suffers. It is not only the weather, but also the heating that can affect us. I am sharing some of my tips on how to look and feel good.

Skin Care

It is no surprise to you, that I love skin care products, and love trying new ones, alongside my favourites.

My daily routine –

  • I use a moisturising shower gel
  • Then apply a moisturiser
  • I also use a day face cream and then a night face cream
  • Through out the day I apply hand cream

Twice a week –

  • I use what I call my special shower gels – the ones that are a little more expensive
  • Then, I apply a matching body lotion or body butter
  • Next is a face serum, I love these but try not to use them every day

I also love face masks and try to do them once or twice a month.

Hair Routine

My hair suffers terribly during the winter months. As I do not go out to work everyday now, I do tend to leave washing my hair and not washing every day or every other day. I also try to not use any hair drying or styling AMPon my hair either. Saying that, I usually end up drying my hair or I look like a mad woman, as my hair is so thick.

Normal Washing –

  • If I am just ‘washing my hair’ I use a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner for quickness
  • Then I will then leave my hair to dry for a while
  • Usually at some point the hair dryer will come out just so I can dry it properly

Once a week (or if I am going out)

  • As I colour my hair as the grey is a nightmare, I use a purple shampoo to tone down the colour
  • I then apply a hair food conditioner and keep that on for a while
  • When it comes to drying, I apply products to stop it frizzing and also protect my hair from any heat damage
  • As my hair is long and thick, I need a decent hair dryer mdlondon has the perfect hair dryer for this.
  • I then get the straighteners out, I apply a spray before hand that will protect my hair.

Look After Your Feet

One area we tend to neglect is our feet. I have used feet peel masks for the past couple of years, but only recently started using feet masks. They are amazing (plus gives you time to sit down and relax). They make such a difference.

Hands and Nails

One thing I am lucky with is my nails, I have strong and healthy nails. I have never been to a nail bar, and have a variety of nail varnishes and a uv lamp so I can do my own nails at home when ever I want a change, or am going out.

Like many of us, my hands get dry just by going around our daily lives. Which is why applying a good hand creamAMP is vital for our hands. Adding some colour to our nails, just gives that bit of colour during the grey winter months and always makes me feel happier. You can also take omega 3 supplements to help with your skin, heart, joint and nail health. As with most self-care measures, taking a holistic view can also help the more precise areas of our health.

Eat Healthier

I always struggle to eat healthily in the winter, than I do in the summer. I love my comfort foods and partial to a steamed pudding and custard. But to look good on the outside, we do need to help ourselves and try to eat healthily. I do love summer fruits, more than winter fruits. I do try to include more vegetables in our meals and snack on fruit during the day. One thing I am bad with is drinking water especially in the winter.

Do you have any tips to share?

I hate my feet, no matter whatever I do it’s dry and dark. But yes I take much better care of my hair but these days my hairfall has increased too.

I am the same with my feet, but find that using a foot peel and foot masks do help

I have to be honest, I don’t have a skin or hair routine, I just don’t have the time with kids at the moment, but I do try and get a good night sleep and outdoors every day and for now that’s really helping. At some point when I am organised I will deal with my skin

You are great at taking care of skin and I love your commitment. I need to start moisturising more before i regret it

I hate my feet, the foot peel is great as a week later the dry dead skin flakes away. It does look pretty gross though and then the masks are a lovely way to moisturis them

My skin gets quite dry in winter as well, especially my hands which are the most exposed to the cold temperatures. I use a great hand cream from Neutrogena that moisturises but doesn’t live any residue behind.

Great ideas there, especially love the idea of not washing my hair for a few days as it tends to dry out. I also followed the link to the mdlondon which I love the idea of, so I’m going to put the idea in my husbands head for my birthday
