As a Mum and a Nanny, the safety of my children and grandchildren is important to me. When my children were young, we did not have these wipes. I know these will be gratefully received and used on my granddaughters.
It shows we do not need fancy fragrances, with products ladened with chemicals. When I was young our parents used to take a wet flannel in a bag. Having friends and family support was so crucial to keep me sane!
Plenty of wet wipes is essential.
It was different with each child, obviously my first I needed so much support as I had no idea what I was doing, but with the others not so much, just plenty of wipes and clean clothes for baby!
Having people to help was essential to give yourself a little ‘me time’
I found the help from my own Mother invaluable, and also making time to meet up with other Mums and Babies
Advice from 2nd time mums.
Having no family and no friends with babies, I found the internet to be a great help. No matter the time of day there was always somebody with a friendly ear to listen and give wise helpful advice.
Support from family
I took up people’s offers of help. If people wanted to look after the baby, I would use the time to cook or catch a nap.
White Noise was the best to help get my baby to sleep
A cold water steriliser over a hot electric/microwave one!
Batch cooking helped , as did being prepared and having nappy changing stuff & a couple changes of clothes together in one place within easy reach
Having a few pram bags packed at a time so I could just grab one when needed without having to worry about refilling it as soon as I got home.
trust your instincts if it doesn’t feel right to leave your baby to cry then don’t pick her up!
A few of my mates batch cooked for me and put the meals in to Tupperware for me to freeze. Lifesaver as I was a single mum from day dot and we went in to lockdown 3 weeks after my girl was born and I had no one then!

I found the most helpful thing was taking time out for myself when baby was sleeping, leaving the housework and allowing myself ten minutes.

Having the support of my family being around
I had a c-section and found a picker-upper / grabber stick to be very helpful. As well as not having to bend down, I could reach a lot of things while sitting holding my sleeping baby.
I found the baby monitor and breathing monitor under the cot mattress reassuring
I found speaking to other mums so helpful! They all gave me advice, told me about their experiences and made me feel less alone!

Batch cooking and freezing meals for us when baby was newborn. Then batch cooking nutritious baby food once weaning.
I think not putting too much pressure on yourself to ‘do everything’, is the biggest piece of advice I can give. Take it all one step at a time
Theyre not tiny for long
I found pre-made meals very helpful, I didn’t always have time to cook from scratch so being able to grab something from the freezer and put straight in the oven was handy.
My husband was an amazing help, taking it in turns to do the night feeds.

I’m expecting my first baby in a few weeks but I think having my mum nearby to help with cleaning, cooking etc. will be very helpful once my partner goes back to work!

Help holding baby for a while so I could make dinner and clean! I was breastfeeding so felt like I had baby attached to me constantly and it was very hard for a long time in all honesty.
Having my mum just up the road and on the other end of the phone, at any time to offer support and help when needed.
Definitely disposable nappies but I then swapped to the new recyclable ones that you could wash.
Establish a routine and don’t worry about the housework!

I was really struggling and had nobody to help me, then a lady my husband knew who was a mum of five came to see me and in that afternoon gave me more practical advice than anyone else.
Don’t rush and do the housework, it can wait.

I wasn’t afraid to ask for help from family, when I was exhausted from lack of sleep
When I had a newborn the most useful thing was getting breastfeeding help. Without them teaching me I don’t think I would have ever got my son to latch right. Breastfeeding shouldn’t hurt for a long period of time and I never knew that it’s not just the nipple that goes into their mouth but the breast itself as well. After receiving help breastfeeding was a lot easier and a lot less painful
