Today is 1st October, which means it is day 1 of Blogtober 2025, where I am taking part in a challenge to write a blog post every day in October. The prompt for today is The Cosy Things You Don’t See on Instagram.
This has got me think, as lets face it a lot of people look like they have the perfect life. Where I know am reality is far from that.
Some of the below are from my own experiences, the others I have asked help from friends.
Table of Contents
ToggleThey say the camera never lies, which is true but the camera can hide things such as
How many times have you scrolled through social media and see the perfect families. Along with their perfect children and perfect home. What you do not see is –
I do know some use services to keep their homes looking spotless, or book in for oven cleaning services. This is something I have done in the past I have to admit.
How often do you scroll through your socials and think why are my family not always together and laughing – What you do not see is
I hope what you can see from this post is no one is that amazing. Everyone has those same moments as we all have. It is just some people like to put up the pretence.
I am always on the wave length of I am what you see. If you see me at the shops and my hair is messy and I have my comfy clothes on – so what.
If you come around my house and the housework is not up to date – so what.

Remember no one has that perfect life and perfect home and family. It is just an illusion.
this is so true – prefer realistic life photo’s always to show we are human
I always prefer honest images than those picture perfect home life ones
It really makes you think, yes like you said you cannot see what is behind the scenes!
You really do not see what is behind the scenes and to some this makes them feel they are failing which is sad
I hate it when people don’t show their honest selves in photos,it happens too often
The trouble is everyone looks at social media and see these perfect families and perfect lives, where that is far from true and it can cause others to feel inferior
All those things you mentioned are what makes life 3D
You’re spot on! People work so hard to create the perfect life, but what lives beyond the little IG squares is what we all have in common – the ins and outs of daily life. xx
The trouble with this is some feel inadequate if their lives are not like these little windows people portray to be perfect lives
Hi! I’m so glad it’s time for Blogtober. Yes, these are all so true- the hidden mess and sleeping on the sofa (mouth wide open snoring in my case lol). I prefer to just be myself too. Life’s too short for constant cleaning and trying to be perfect. xxx
I am hopeful to complete Blogtober this year. I used to be asleep on the sofa open mouthed and snoring. Life is too short for the constant cleaning
