Life With An Air Fryer
4 October 2022

As you all know by now I finally gave in and treated myself to an air fryer. I had been wanting one for such a long time. I talked to friends about theirs, read blog posts and reviews. With energy prices going up, it gave me the final push I needed to purchase one. As you will know I am loving my life with an air fryer. And been sharing recipes I have tried out in mine, some that I have adapted slightly.

I have joined a few Facebook groups, picking up tips and recipes along the way. One recipe I kept seeing was cheese scones. These have always been a favourite in my house, I loved them growing up. They are also one of C’s favourite lunches.

You can imagine how excited we both were, when we found the recipe. C is loving trying new ideas and recipes AMPas much as I do. So on her next day when she was home for lunch we made them. They are so quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

1 x Cup of Self Raising Flours

2 x Cups strong cheese – grated

1/2 Cup of Milk

Seasoning

How To Make

  • Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. You may need extra milk if too dry
  • Once the mixture is formed to a nice dough, tip out onto a floured surface.
  • Press down (or you can roll out) to a nice thickness and cut using a smallish cutter
  • Place onto air fryer liners (this helps with washing up) and set to 200 for 4 minutes
  • Turn over the scones and cook for another 4 minutes at 200

I make in batches so that they are not crammed in the air fryer and have room to expand.

Tip – Try not to make them too big or they will take longer to cook.

What to try next

I now want to try baking other things, and interested to try cakes and my banana breadAMP. Which in theory should be ok. Watch this space.

What do you make in your air fryer?

I’m still trying to figure out where I can fit an air fryer in my kitchen: space and sockets (lack of) are both a problem. Very intrigued by the Cheese Scone recipe, though! No messy butter to rub in with your fingers. Wonderful!

ReplyAMP

This was one of the problems we had, but I did find somewhere for mine. The cheese scones are so quick and easy. We had these the other day at C’s request

ReplyAMP

Have also been toying with the idea of getting one, purely because of soaring enegy costs. But I’ve such a tiny kitchen, I’m not sure where I’d put it. Also, I’m not sure I do enough baking or cooking for it to be financially viable. There’s only me to consider; it’s not like I’m cooking for lots of hungry mouths each day.

ReplyAMP

I do love mine but there is more than just me

ReplyAMP

I would love to get an airyfryer, unfortunately I do not have enough room for one

ReplyAMP

I found room, as that was one of the reasons I put off buying one

These look yummy! I’ve been making rock buns and all sorts in mine, but my husband doesn’t like dried fruit, so I will definitely be giving these a go for him.

I was the same as you but finally gave in and loving mine

I didn’t think I needed one but seeing so many recipes online and hearing my mum rave about hers it has really made want one now too.

The title of this post should have been Life with an air fryer is great! Mine has saved me so much time in the kitchen and it makes your food crispy on outside while remaining juicy on the inside. They are a great addition to a kitchen. Now many devices have an air fryer setting as well. Like out toaster oven can also air fry.

Reply

They do save a lot of time, although now I am looking at the dual air fryers haha

Reply

Oh wow, the air fryer seems to save so much cooking time. That’s quite amazing. I look forward to reading some of your other recipes too. The cheese scones sound delicious, I’ve only had scones in afternoon teas before. Not tried savoury ones.

Reply

I am loving my air fryer. My Mum used to make cheese scones when I was little and sometimes I would make them for lunch as C loves them. She is loving this recipe now and we make them quite a lot

Reply

Ooh, you’ve convinced me to get one! This looks great. I hadn’t thought about baking in one. We’re short of space in our kitchen atm but I’m going to have a good sort out soon and see if I can make room for this and a slow cooker. Thanks for sharing. xxx

Reply

Honestly you should get one they are great, I didn’t think of where to put mine when I got it and stood in the kitchen looking around and found the perfect place
