The summer is coming fast, and it’s time to get your garden ready for it to become a place to relax. A garden is your sanctuary, an extension of your home. So you need to surround it with things that you love and want to see. You can work on your garden and get your garden ready for summer with whatever budget you have. So do not worry if you can’t afford to spend much on getting your garden set up for the sun. You can easily transform your garden for not too much. Which can be done over the next couple of months to spread the cost.

ToggleYou can buy some ready-made plants and they instantly transform your garden. But you can also buy some seeds and bulbs to grow plants yourself. You will get so much satisfaction from growing and nurturing something that will be on display for everyone to see.
Some plants are also more inviting to wildlife, so it will encourage bees and butterflies to come to your garden. You will want to look at buying some foxgloves are a valuable source of pollen, and especially attractive to long-tongued bees. They come in a huge range of different colours and look great. Plant them in spring or autumn because the soil is moist and warm. Another plant that is rich in nectar is lavender. Not only does it look great in your garden it also smells beautiful. You can plant lavender shrubs in the borders or corners of your garden.
Get your mower out and mow the lawn. Strimmer the sides and make sure that you straighten them up. You can also use a flat spade to dig out and straighten the edges too. Pull out the weeds and put down some new grass seed if it needs it. Mark out where the seed is so that people do not walk over it.
You can fertilise your lawn if you want to, but most grass lawns don’t need it. If you are going to do this, you need to start now, so it is ready to use in the summer. You might also want to remove the grass and go for an artificial lawn instead. After all, that means almost no real upkeep!
You can get some wooden palettes from most hardware stores. Or if someone has a huge delivery from the hardware store, you can ask for their palettes. Wooden palettes are sturdy because they are built to withstand a lot of weight. If you look at Pinterest you can find so many ideas to choose from. You can build decking out of palettes, a bar, or a garden sofa …. Just use your imagination. The best thing about making things from wooden palettes is that you make stuff even if you have no experience in woodwork.
You can get some real bargains to get your garden ready for summerAMP by looking on Marketplace, or even locally on eBay. Some people offer stuff for free just to get it out of their garden. And if it needs doing up, it will give you a little project to do for the spring.

I start checking my garden for signs of Spring in January and begin to feel optimistic about my plans for the summer from then. It’s an uplifting time.

We don’t have a garden, but we have a balcony which we’re getting summer ready, by growing lots of different fruit and veg. Currently are strawberries are very successful and our tomatoes haven’t fruited yet but they’re growing pretty big. I’ll think tree is a bit anaemic but recovering and our pear tree probably still needs a few years before it can fruit. We also have broccoli, Pak, Choi,, peas, leeks and potatoes, growing. All these leafy greens, contrasting with a bright red strawberries is making our balcony looks pretty nice.

I am not a gardener either
I have loads to get done in the garden because the weather has been so rubbish recently! I love making things from pallets, I made a mud kitchen for my children last year and best of all it’s free!
You can have so much fun in the garden and without costing a penny
I always have ready grown plants and flowers for the front garden and I grow one’s from seeds in the back garden. My fella has been out cutting the grass today but only got the front done before the rain came. x
