Gift Ideas For The Younger Family Members
20 October 2021

As you will know from previous posts, November is a busy time in our family for birthdays.  I have my daughters 18th to start the birthday month.  Which is then closely followed by my granddaughters 1st birthday. Followed a couple of weeks later her big sisters 4th birthday. Which means Nanny has been looking for the noisiest and messiest toys available. With the help of Wicked Uncle, I am finding this easy.

My Daughter in law has asked if she can come to us for the day of my youngest granddaughters 1st birthday, as she wants to do a cake smash.  As Grandad is a photographer, she asked if he would do the photos, which of course he said yes too.

Every Parents Nightmare

When my kids were younger, it seemed that their grandparents thought they had to get the noisiest toys going.  They seemed to get delight in seeing the horror on our faces, as the kids thought it was great.  Now that we are grandparents, it seems that the baton has been handed down. It is in fact a thing that grandparents do.  I have been told off so many times. But how can I deprive my gorgeous grandchildren of the delight they get playing with their new toys.  I have managed to hold my husband off buying a drum kit so far though.

Last Christmas I got my granddaughter an amazing toyAMP, and put a status on Facebook, where her other Nanny said oh no, it’s going to be noisy isn’t it.  She had them living with her at the time, so was not looking forward to the added noise.

Age Appropriate Toys

One thing I have always been aware of, is age appropriate toys.  They all have their plus points whether it is for    co-ordination, learning colours, numbers.  Children learn so much through play,AMP and I am always looking for new toys and games that will help them learn while they are playing.  Every time, we plan to see our grandchildren I always go with a range of things for them, and again get told off.  But that is what Grandparents do isn’t it.  We are their to spoil our grandkids.

I will let you into a secret of another way I get around being told off.  I use my secret weapon C, she is an amazing Auntie, and the love between her and her Nieces is amazing.  Her whole face lights up when talking about them. I just tell C to give the kids the presents.

It is always difficult with C having her birthday in November and then Christmas the following month, and now the same with my Granddaughters.  I always want to make birthdays and Christmas special for them, but not spoil them too much, that I am struggling for ideas for Christmas.

Wicked Uncle make it so much easier to find gifts that are age appropriate, and also a huge range of ideas no matter what your budget is.  I always go to them for gifts and always love how much they are appreciated and played with.

Are you a grandparent who like me loves the payback of gifting noisy and messy toys?

I find the selecting giifts for a certain age tool really useful on Wicked Uncle

I have always found them to be very helpful when finding gifts for different age ranges

Just checked the other gorgeous gift ideas. I am in love with the Unicorn Scarf

ReplyAMP

I want that scarf for me but would not be big enough and think my family would refuse to go out with me

Haha, I know what you mean about noisy toys. The grandparents weren’t like that, but my kids have an uncle who always filled that role – toddler drum kits, noise making robot etc. You name it, he got it.

ReplyAMP

We have not done the drum kit yet, as our granddaughter was too young and then last year there was a newborn and wouldn’t be fair

As someone without kids I will happily buy noisy messy presents for my friends kids which I am sure they hate x

It is great buying noisy and messy toys when they are not yours, but for me it is what grandparents do we had it done to us, so only fair to carry it on x

I’m looking for gifts for my niece and I agree that age appropriate toys are important. I am looking for one to help teach colors and shapes so will check out Wicked Uncle and see what’s available.

Age appropriate toys really do help on so many levels, there are some great toys that teach colours and shapes

Ha, the noisiest toys is something I’m working with this year. My brother enjoyed doing the same to us before he had kids, now the tables have turned. Mwaahhhhaahhaaaa

ReplyAMP

Noisiest toys are the best when you are not the parents, my daughter in law is great but always tells me off, but never C so I do it through her now lol

I love buying from Wicked Uncle. They have such a great range of toys. I partially like their learning toys

ReplyAMP
