How nice has it been now the weather is a little cooler. I really did not cope well in the heat last week. What a week we have had, and time for a catch up in my diary of a menopausal mum post.

ToggleLast weekAMP, I shared how C is suffering with her head and how we were concerned it was her IIH. I managed to get her an Opticians appointment last Wednesday. We are so lucky with our opticians, as they picked up on this condition through a normal eye check. We were so grateful to them for this.
I went into her appointment with her and explained her history and how she was feeling now, and then C picked up with answering the questions. The Optician, did a very thorough check and went back on her previous examinations. Luckily, her IIH is fine. She has found that she has a stigmatism in one of her eyes, and needed glasses. C tried on tons of glasses before choosing the frames she wanted, we are now just waiting on them coming through.
You have all followed me on our education journey, from the fighting for C to just get some form of education. To our recent fight to get C on her college course.
C officially breaks up this coming Friday, today she is in her class for the very last time, with the rest of the week online from home. Amazingly, as I was dropping C off, her Tutor was parking up and we had a chat. It is such a shame that this is the final year of this course, as the council have deemed it not cost effective. I beg to differ, C has passed all her exams, even recently taking a higher level maths exam and passing. She has obtained a City and Guilds with obtaining the top marks you can get. To say we are so proud of her is an understatement. She could not have done this without this course and her amazing tutors.
You may have seen me share on Facebook today about a tutoring service locally to us. Although I do think they do it online as well. This is C’s tutors next role as she has now lost her job due to this course ending. I really can not recommend her highly enough, apart from education, she is also understanding, approachable and friendly, and if you are looking for a tutor she is great. If she can get C to be confident in maths and get her to the level to pass two exams she is amazing. As C has always struggled with maths and hated it.
As you know I have started working on my Christmas Gift Guides. I was contacted about a stocking filler idea. Scrapples. They are a delicious snack which is perfect for anytime and made from 100% whole fruit. Which makes them healthy for the kids, and a great addition to your cupboards, especially with the Summer holidays starting. They contact no added sugar, salt, fat or oil and will count as one of your five a day.
Over 930m tonnes of edible food is wasted globally each year; Spare makes use of both wonky raw and dried apples that are often rejected because they are misshapen, blemished, or deemed the wrong shape or size. The wonky apples are always fresh and delicious, they just happen to look a bit irregular; Spare transforms them into beautifully healthy, Great Taste Award-winning apple crisps that are good for people, producers, and the planet.
Scrapples come in three great flavours
C is now feeling ready to take driving lessons, which should be easy. Trying to find someone to come back to me after contacting, or who isn’t booked up months in advance is a nightmare. As I was driving her down to her course this morning. I was chatting telling her how I was still trying to book lessons, her reply and I do love her for this.
I would like to be able to drive by the time my course starts in September, I did laugh and as much as I would love that, had to tell her that would not happen.
A lovely new giveaway went live this week where, 2 lucky winners will receive this beautiful bird feeder and accessoriesAMP. A lovely addition to your garden and watching the birds as they come and go.
I hope you have all had a lovely week.
What a fabulous optician you have and well done to C for her City and Guilds, what a star. Those Scrapples look delicious.
Honestly owe our opticians so much, my whole family uses them. She has done amazingly well so prroud of her
Hate the hot weather too! Driving lessons! How exciting. All that independence
It was horrible wasn’t it, would be exciting if I could book lessons proving to be a nightmare
I can’t believe you are working on your Christmas Gift Guides already, you are super organised.
I know it is mad isn’t it
That is good your daughter found some glasses she likes. I imagine it will be nice for her to get her glasses. The Scrapple snacks sound so tasty!
She now has her glasses and they are helping her, they really suit her as well. The Scrapple snacks are great
Glad the weather has cooled a little as do agree it was too hot last week. Not heard of Scrapples before but I am always looking for healthy snacks for the kids when we head out on day trips
I am happier now it is cooler, scrapples are great for adding to picnics or popping in your bag
That’s great to hear you have found an excellent and supportive tutor locally. I love the sound of the apple crisps will look out for them on my next grocery shop!
The tutor is C’s tutor from this year, the scrapples are lovely and great for snacking
A lot of headaches are caused by not wearing glasses when you need them. I know that’s the reason for my husband’s headaches but he’s still too arrogant to wear them as they don’t make him look good, haha.
Oh it’s so good a company is making use of those misshapen veg and fruit. It is so sad that there is so much food waste in this world just because they look different. I tend to buy wonky carrots and other veg in supermarkets. Taste just as good as any other
I never used to like wearing my glasses, now I can not go without them and wear them all the time. We picekd C’s glasses up on Thursday they really suiit her and her headaches are getting better.
It is great that they neglected fruit is being put to use, it tastes the same
Love Scrapples too the flavours are great – I’d recommend to all
I’m going to Google the Scrapples. Sounds good to me.
Click the link in the post it will take you straight there
It was so good to ready about your week. We had a good week too. That giveaway is really so interesting I like that bird feeder.
The birdfeeder is lovely and the birds arre loving it in our garden
It sounds like C has done very well with her studies. I bet she looks great in the glasses. Lucky they caught that on the eye test visit. I hope the driving lessons go well.
She did amazingly well, she does look great in her glasses, need to try to get a pic of her wearing them. Still trying to book drriving lessons
Sounds like a delicious and wholesome snack to have around!
That bird feeder looks so nice! I love the metal work…lovely giveaway!
That’s good that nothing too major was wrong with her eyes, I hope she’s happy with her new glasses. I wish I had been able to pass my driving test in a month or two haha x
She picked her glasses up today and they really do suit her. I wish I had passed my driving test that quickly as well. I thought I did well in passing within 10 months
It sounds like C has done extremely well with her education, and that is a credit to how hard you’ve fought for her! Scrapples sound delish, I’ll definitely look out for them in the shops.
Honestly, she has amazed us in how well she has done this year. I emailed her tutor today just to say thank you etc, and he said she has done so well not only in her education but her confidence as well. The Scrapples are lovely
my son loves apple everything. He’s a little apple addicted
Not a bad thing to like and these would be a great snack for him x
I am seeing the CHRISTMAS planning more and more!!! It seems like the year goes from July to December overnight, right?
I am waiting on my husband to start moaning, as I am now getting items in. I am going to have to start writing up my gift guides now I think
I need those Scrapples in my life! They look delicious. I don’t care if they’re for kids or adults. LOL
I look at them as being for the family as I loved them x
My older son and I both have astigmatism so have to wear glasses for it, too. He has transition lenses so they are sunglasses when he goes outside for recess. We are almost done with summer break here, the boys will be back in school in 2 weeks so those scrapple snacks look perfect for them to pack for snack time!
At the moment she is only prescribed for reading and close work, If needed I would pay out for the transition lenses as I wear varifocals and have these as helps with not having to change glasses all the time.
That is good that C has got some glasses. I hope they help and well done to her with her education, especially with everything else that she has to deal with. Her tutor sounds amazing.
My eldest is still struggling to find a driving instructor, they are all booked up still. She’s on a waiting list for a few but they said it will be at least another 6 months before she can start. Grr! x
We are just waiting to know when to pick her glasses up. She has done amazingly this year and her tutors have been amazing. I had no idea there are waiting lists, maybe why I am not hearing much response. We are thinking of putting her on one of those intense courses.
I love apple crisps and have them as a mid-day snack all the time. I will check the brand Scrapples, I am not sure I’ve seen it around.
I had not tried them before, but am loving them and can seee them becomming a family favourite
