10 Ways To Enjoy Self-Care At Home For Better Wellbeing
8 December 2025

What does self-care look like to you? For some people, it’s a bath and an early night once in a while, for someone else, it could be finding the time to work out each day. Our lives are busy, and when you wear the hat of a parent, child, employee, friend, and more, it’s not always easy to put yourself first.

Self-care is important, and the good news is that it can start at home. Here are 10 ways to enjoy self-care to improve your overall wellbeing and do a little something for yourself too.

1. Enjoy a relaxing bath

Nothing beats a relaxing bath when you’ve had a long day, or you just want some quiet for yourself. Treat yourself to some luxury bath products, light some candles and just lie back and relax – it can do you the world of good. Some people use bath time to read a book, listen to some music or even catch up with their favourite programmes using a bath tray for an iPad or laptop – anything goes these days! You’ll feel restored and refreshed, ready to relax for the rest of your evening.

2. Cook yourself something comforting

Comfort food warms your soul, so why not spend time making one of your favourites? Whether you love lasagne or a little sausage and mash, nothing beats the homemade version. Find some comfort food recipes to make yourself – you’ll be glad you saved on the takeaway costs!

3. Try yoga or meditation

Yoga or meditation can be an excellent way to enjoy some self-care at home. You don’t need to go to a fancy studio or even leave the house, all you need is a mat and some space to practice. There are a lot of online tutorials you can use to enjoy professional yoga instruction at home, helping you to switch off for a little bit, while strengthening your body and mind. If you’re looking for the most relaxing form of yoga, give Yin a try – it’s a slow-paced class that can help you wind down for bed, leaving you feeling calm and rested.

4. Work on your skincare routine

Taking care of your skin is important, but not everyone makes the time for it. Investing a little time in a skincare routine can make a huge difference to how your skin looks, but it can also ensure you give yourself some time each day to do something for you. Start with a basic skincare routine and gradually add in new products and treatments to help tackle different concerns and leave your skin glowing.

5. Create your own spa

If you love going to the spa, but don’t have enough time to go, why not create your own spa at home? An indoor sauna is a wonderful treat, and has been shown to bring several health benefits, and adding an ice bath can help you enjoy the hot and cold therapy mix that many people swear by. Even if you just spend 10 minutes each day doing this, you could start seeing some big improvements to your mental and physical health. It’s also a great way to boost your energy levels, especially if you do it first thing in the morning.

6. Sit down to read or enjoy a podcast

It’s great to have so much choice on TV, but sometimes that choice can be overwhelming. Why not forget about watching a series or a film once in a while and take the time to read or enjoy a podcast instead? Reading or listening to a podcast can be incredibly relaxing, giving you some real ‘me’ time. Set yourself up with a quiet, relaxing space and get ready to dive into something you enjoy.

7. Declutter a space

Decluttering may feel like a bit of a chore, but it can bring some big improvements for your mental wellbeing. Not only will it help make your space look more organised, but it can bring you a sense of calm too. Start with something small, like decluttering your coffee or bedside table, and take note of how it makes you feel. A good decluttering session can help you get rid of a lot of things you’ve been holding on to, leaving your home and mind much clearer as a result.

8. Enjoy a cosy night in

A cosy night in, either by yourself or with a loved one, can be just what you need to unwind and find your balance. Create some mood lighting, light the fire (if you have one), and get under the blankets and settle down with some good food, your drink of choice and maybe something great on TV. In the winter, this can be a welcome escape from being on the go all the time, helping you find some much-needed calm.

9. Do something creative

Crafting is one of the ultimate relaxing hobbies. Whether you like to draw, paint or sew, crafting is a good way to do something for yourself and help you unwind. Find a hobby that you enjoy, and you can do alone when you get the chance – it will be something to look forward to and a welcome break from everything else going on in your life!

10. Have a screen break

Finally, make sure you take a screen break now and then. As an easy self-care idea, a screen break can help you shut out the noise and give you the time for one of the other activities above. Use your ‘do not disturb’ features and see how you get on. You may find the break gets longer and longer each time!

Everyone has their own version of self-care, and finding yours can help you find ways to do something for yourself that you’ll not only enjoy, but could improve your wellbeing too. From taking 10 minutes to meditate to a cosy night in, these little things can make a huge difference to how you feel, allowing yourself the time we all need to reset and find the thing that restores the balance. Soon, your self-care will become a habit, supporting a calmer and happier you.
