Meet The Blogger – Sarah

Following on in my Meet The Blogger series, today I am introducing you to Sarah who blogs over at Whimsical Mumblings.

Sarah

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?

I’m Sarah, a UK Lifestyle & Family blogger. I live in good old Somerset with my husband and three children. I write about a variety of different topics from family life, to home decor but I really enjoy writing about motivation and self care!

WHY DID YOU START BLOGGING?

I started my blog SO long ago. It started of as a little diary type of blog, sharing whatever I got up to that day. In hindsight, it was probably super boring to read. Haha.

HAS YOUR BLOG CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED?

It’s completely changed. There’s nothing about it that’s the same apart from the fact that it’s mine. My blog used to be called ‘Hedgehog Corner’ which is just utterly hilarious! I think since having children my blog has changed the most, and I’ve really discovered what I want it to become and what I want to write about.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FUNNIEST MOMENT SINCE STARTING YOUR BLOG?

I get quite a few absurd and hilarious emails a week. Asking me to review the most bizarre products or write about the weirdest things such as STDs or cosmetic surgery..down there!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR WORST MOMENT SINCE STARTING YOUR BLOG?

It can be SUPER stressful at times, but I wouldn’t say I’ve have a ‘worst moment’. Apart from a few arguments with brands who refuse to pay you for the work!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEW BLOGGER STARTING OUT?

Discover what you are really passionate about and write about that. Don’t write about what you feel you should be writing about. You’ll get bored, and readers will get bored too! Also, start as you mean to go on. SEO from the very beginning!

WHAT SURPRISED YOU ABOUT BLOGGING THAT YOU DID NOT REALISE BEFORE YOU STARTED?

It’s not as easy as it looks despite what people might think! It’s not just ‘write and hit publish’ there is SO much more than goes on behind the scenes that takes up a lot of time, and a lot of hard work.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

I like making things! Whether that’s doing craft activities with my children, or creating something for myself. I’ll dabble at anything and see what I can create! Haha

IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY WHAT WOULD YOU DO FIRST?

I’d buy my family in a house, then I’d buy my parents each a house. Then I’d donate to charities, and I’d save the rest until I’ve got a better idea of what to do with it!

WHO IS YOUR BLOGGING HERO AND WHY?

I have lots! Aby from You Baby Me Mummy & Donna from What The Redhead Said are both so inspiring and helpful! Plus Laura from Wafflemama is so down to earth and easy to talk to when this blogging malarkey becomes a bit overwhelming!

Lovely to meet Sarah – and yes the weird guest posts requests I have had too – it makes you wonder if they have ever read your blog or are just on spec hoping – though it does make a great giggle too!

It does make you wonder about guest post requests, I think many just do it in the hope and have never read your blog

I don’t think people realise the work that goes into blogging behind the scenes. I have also been in receipt of some of those emails
