I have always had a love of wood and wooden products. My Grandad was a Carpenter and had his own workshops. There was nothing I loved when I was younger and staying with my Grandparents, was spending time in his workshops watching him work and the smell of wood always transports me back to those happy memories.

I received a bunch of daffodils from our back garden one year from my little boy! I even saw him pick them and was intending to tell him off but when he presented them to me with a ‘Happy Mother’s Day Mam’ I couldn’t help but smile and say thank you!

I gave my sister a cute babygrow whilst she was pregnant with my niece, so it was her first present ever on Mother’s Day. Little did I know it backfired on me, as I ended up holding baby for 14 1/2 years!

Not really very funny but one year my mum insisted that what she wanted was a peg bag and bags.
My son once drew me a card for mothers day with two giraffe on. We had recently been to the zoo. Only they didn’t look like giraffe, more like a gentlemans private parts 😂 the card took pride of place for all to see! It’s in his memory box now 😂😂
My daughter gave me a moulded blue lump of clay that she said was a model of me, it was not flattering I can tell you!, but she was only 5 bless her, I still have it on display 28 years later
I remember picking my mum some flowers but didnt know they were dandelions. She was not impressed lol
I received a mug with a drawing that my kids made of me…. it wasnt very flattering picture lol missing teeth…. boobs down to my knees lol its the thought that counts lol
I’m not sure I’ve ever given a funny present. I tend to stick with flowers and things I know my mum will like otherwise it would be a waste of money. As boring as that is!

When I was about 12 I got my mum what I thought was a beautiful card- it featured a shiny, sparkly green dragon in flight on a silver background. Inside I wrote, ‘Happy Mother’s Day you old dragon!’. For some reason, she wasn’t impressed 🙁
Last year I got a highland cow!
A friend had a gorgeous fluffy highland cow toy that I coveted every time we visited.
The girls mentioned it to hubby (I think they were embarrassed that every time we visited my friend all I wanted to do was cuddle the cow) and last year they decided to buy me one of my own. So now I own a gorgeous cuddly highland cow and I couldn’t be happier
I bought my mum a huge bar of chocolate but in the run up to Mothers Day I got told off (totally unfairly of course, since I considered myself an absolute angel) and sent to my room so I took great delight in sitting there and eating the whole lot. Can’t remember if I bought a replacement so I better add a bar of chocolate to her pressies this year.

I dressed the same as my sister who my mum hadnt seen for a long time, i went in and said i forgot her present, i went out and my sister went in with flowers, it took my mum about 30 seconds before she shrieked 🙂

I once gave my mum a knitted can of baked beans (with faces!!) It was fab, you could even take the beans out lol!
A toilet seat! Granted we needed one and it was a glitter one but I was’nt very impressed
l did get an iron from my partner at the time, dont get me wrong ours was on its way out but to call it a mothers day gift…… Nah lolx

When my son was very young I received a small piece of wood that he had cut off a large piece of wood. He was so proud that he’d managed to use a saw, all I could do was smile

My daughters for the first time last year aged 7 and 8 choose my presents themselves, 2 lovely tea towels a roasting tin and a tube of strident (I don’t have false teeth) but as my mum has they thought all old people did apparently love them
