Life In A Lockdown – Week 10

Life In A Lockdown - Week 10

Here we are another week in lockdown, can you believe we are into week 10 of the lockdown linky.  I am loving taking part in this linky, and it is great looking back at my replies to the prompts from week 1.  You can find last weeks post here.  So how has this past week been in our household.

1) How are you feeling/coping?

I am feeling very tired and battered this week.  The lockdown itself is just normal living now, same each week staying in and staying safe and only going out for essentials.  I am worried sick about C, she is really in so much pain and it is heartbreaking watching her and calls to our GP or Consultant get us nowhere.  Although I did finally manage to get her appointment with her Consultant moved forward and we have that today thankfully.  My sons are also keeping me busy as well, although the middle one seems to be ok now.  The eldest lets just say he has pushed me to my limit and beyond now and I can’t take anymore.

I also had a nightmare with my website, it had been getting slow and I spent ages trying various things to speed it up. Then it just stopped and took 20 minutes to load up. As it was a theme I had paid for I contacted the developers who suggested what I had already done so not much help. It took me ages to find a theme I liked, so decided to go for a free WP theme until I found another one. I actually quite like this one and considering the paid version of it.

2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?

This week apart from work it is my kids. I also am wondering if C could have an intolerance to something so have been looking at various intollerances.  By doing this I have discovered quite a bit, ME can cause lactose or gluten intolerance, and also long term illness can also cause this.  I have tried C on lactose free milk, she says it hurts less then.  So armed with what I know I am going to be asking her Consultant to go down this route.

3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?

We are doing the same thing each week, we are self isolating, I get my shopping delivered and only pop down to our local garage if we need bread or milk etc. We have been going on a couple of walks (when it hasn’t been raining) which has been lovely

4) What advice do you have for others?

With things relaxing it is just keep safe and remember social distancing, bit if you don’t need to go out stay in.

5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.

I treated C to some new canvas shoes, she has always been pug mad, and a couple of years ago I found a pair of pug printed canvas shoes on a site where everything was £5, she loved them but they got ruined recently.  I managed to find a pair on ebay and treated her to them.

6) How has your routine been this week? (Question by Don’t Cramp My Style)

All over the place, with C being so ill and our eldest from when I woke up on Friday morning until I went to bed and finally asleep about 3 am Monday morning, I had about 3 hours sleep.  I did crash out last night but still feel all over the place.  I need to get things back on track or I will end up ill

7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over in the past 7 days?? (Question by Don’t Cramp My Style)

Apart from what I have mentioned in previous weeks, our middle son is coming to visit and bring the grandkids to stay so am really looking forward to that.

How has your week been?

    1. We were supposed to have a telephone consultation with her consultant today but has been moved to tomorrow. I am out of my depth at the moment and not even sure if I am now going down the right route for what I think is wrong. I will catch up on sleep at some stage soon hopefully x

  3. I’m so sorry that C is in so much pain – I hope you find the cause of it soon and that it all gets better!

  4. Good luck with all you are doing for C – it is so hard when there are no “answers” just more questions bought up by everything.

    1. Thank you at the moment it is all questions, we did not speak to consultant yesterday as she was called away so have that today. Hopefully I am on the right track

  5. I have been feeling tired lately. Not that I have been doing hard labor or anything, I just feel tired. I guess it is the stress and the anxiety that is making me feel this way. I will try to bake some cookies tomorrow. Maybe that will lift my spirits. Thanks for sharing how your week went. As always, stay safe and stay healthy.

    1. I think everyone is feeling tired, it is all the unkown going on and what ifs. Hope you enjoy your cookies x

  6. Sending love to your Caitlin. I really hope you get some sort of resolution soon – this has been going on for so long now, hasn’t it. It must be taking its toll on you. Glad you got your website sorted. That would be all you need on top of everything else.

    1. My website nearly tipped me over the edge, but again a simple thing really in changing the theme thankfully. We are now having the call from her consultant today, if it turns out to be what we now think it is, I am going to have to really change a lot of things so learning for me too, but worth it if it helps

  7. I’m sorry this week has been so tiring and stressful for you. I love the sound of those pug shoes!

    1. They are lovely shoes and she deserved a treat, this week is just as bad one day life will through me a break x

  8. I’m so sorry to hear that C’s problem is not getting sorted. It’s the biggest pain for a parent to watch their child suffering. I do hope something will change soon and it will get sorted.

  9. To be honest our routine has also been a bit out and all over this week…but hoping to get back on track for Monday next week x

    1. I hope you get back on track unfortunately mine is going to be a long time before it can get back on an even level

  10. I would definitely be asking the GP / consultant to test for coeliac disease before you remove gluten from her diet. As sadly you have to be eating gluten to get a positive result. Glad that removing lactose from her diet has helped though/

    1. I haven’t removed gluten from her diet as trying to do one thing at a time, lactose free milk is helping as she says it is not as painful using that. I have just done an online shop and getting lactose free butter and cheese as well so that may also help. I am now trying to speak to her private Consultant to see if he can help

  11. I’m so sorry to hear your daughter is struggling so much. Especially when the help you need for her is not available. I do hope things improve. Hugs xx

  12. Can’t believe it’s been 10 weeks! It’s gone by fast but also slow at the same time?! Im sorry that your daughter is struggling- I hope you get some resolution soon x

    1. It has been going on for so long now, thank you am trying things myself at home now as not getting anyhere with the medical side

  13. I am so sorry about C’s pain and that it’s still bad. A horrible thing to manage and not be able to get anywhere during this time with the NHS not normal yet. I hope you get something sorted soon.

  14. I think during this lockdown I have realised having a daily routine is important . I have also made a list and I am working my way through it.
