Life In A Lockdown Linky – Week 60

Life In A Lockdown Linky - Week 60

Last week, I wrote my post early as had a couple of nights away at the beginning of the week.  It was so lovely to just get away and recharge out batteries and just switch off.  I am now back and ready to face the world.

As you know Tuesday is the Life In  A Lockdown Linky post, where I answer a set of questions along with others.

If you want to take part in the linky the questions are

1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)
6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?
8) Anything else you would like to mention?

1) How are you feeling/coping?

I am feeling very mixed at the moment, I wrote about how C was feeling on her new medication and that with her consultant had agreed to decrease her dose.  Our GP is refusing to budge on prescribing he lower dose of 8mg as I have plenty 16mg.  I have now had to buy a pill cutter to try and cut the tiny pills in half and some empty capsules (I never knew this was a thing) to put them in.  Otherwise she would not be on any medication at all and suffering a lot more.

You have all been following our EHCP saga, after a few emails last week we now have the draft EHCP we have both read it and it looks like all her needs have been taken care of.  I just need to read it again in case there is anything missed or we want changed.

2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?

As you already know, we had a couple of nights away in a hotel which was amazing.  Plus we had a lovely night out with friends in London on Friday to celebrate our friends birthday.  We had originally planned this for December on his birthday but had to postpone.  It was lovely dressing up, having a meal out with entertainment.

I also had a call from my GP last Monday to book my second vaccine, unfortunately the one time that they had available was for last Friday.  I explained that I already had a dentist appointment at the same time and did they have another time.  She was really rude and said no, huffed and puffed and said she would mark on my records I could not attend and I will be contacted at some stage to arrange another one.

The next day I spoke to our GP over something else, and mentioned this.  Who I spoke to this time was lovely and said I would be called but they do not know when as it depends on which vaccine they get in at the time.  I was speaking to my friend over the weekend and she booked hers on the NHS app, I now have my vaccine today.

I also had another trip to the Dentist, my tooth needs to come out but she is going to keep it in as long as possible while she gets my denture made up and fitting well.

3) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?

With being away, and trying to deal with personal things, I was not really working fully last week so am leaving this blank for this week

4) Do you have any plans for lockdown easing?

We have a week away with friends in June, where we are travelling around the Lake District, while one of them does a cycle ride each day.  Am so looking forward to this and seeing all the lovely scenery, just hoping the weather improves.

5) What have you bought this week that others might like? (Especially if from a small business.)

A pill cutter and empty capsules.  Also new masks I seem to have a knack of losing them lately so got a pack of 6 which hopefully will keep me going for a while

6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

My dentist, my friends and family

7) What would you like the future to know about life during a pandemic?

Never take life for granted, be grateful for the little things

8) Anything else you would like to mention?

Keep on going, take one day at a time and we will get through this

Thank you to

  1. It seems crazy to me they won’t give you the lower dose, cutting tablets in 1/2 can be an absolute nightmare at the best of times!

    1. I know and I have argued this out 3 times, it is a total joke but it was that or she would have no medication at all

    1. Oh no, I had my second vaccine yesterday and unlike the first feel awful but worth it to get the protection

  2. It’s good that you got the chance to take a break, and spend some time at a hotel! I am hoping to do that soon.

  3. I am glad you managed to get away – bet that was absolutely lovely! What an awful woman, you can’t help already having prior arrangements!

    1. It was lovely getting away, and she was awful luckily I have had my second vaccine now although my body is not thanking me for it

  4. Good news on the EHCP, great that it looks like it is taking care of the needs of your daughter. Mich x

  5. I can’t believe how rude the GP surgery was when you couldn’t make the vaccine, most people can’t stop and drop everything. I finally have my first vaccine booked in and I’m so excited x

    1. I know I was a bit taken aback, but could be that I had also been on the phone to them the day before arguing over C’s medication. I booked via NHS website in the end and now fully vaccinated

    1. We have the hard copy and C has read some of it and got bored reading it and relying on us to tell her, but all looking good

  6. Making you cut tablets in half is ridiculous. I’ve had to do that for my cats several times, and it’s always hit or miss as to whether I get 2 nice halves or a load of tablet crumbs.

    1. I know and believe me I have made my thoughts known, the trouble is the side effects she is having I need to keep the doses the same. I have had to throw some as they did not cut evenly, and also why I found some empty capsules so for one they do not taste for her. You really can not make up all of this

  7. We’re looking forward to seeing friends and family. That’s shocking behavior from the GP, you had a valid reason too.

    1. It is lovely seeing family and friends, seeing our grandkids and mother in law next Tuesday. I expect nothing less from our GP and had another conversation with them today

  8. I can’t believe it is week 60! Glad you managed to get away, sometimes getting away is exactly what you need to just get away from everything for a little bit. The lake district sounds amazing too and something to look forward too! Glad you managed to sort your vaccine out too. x

    1. It was lovely getting away and am looking forward to our trip to the Lakes. All fully vaccinated now thankfully
