Life After Lockdown – Week 71

Here we are at Tuesday again and time for my weekly linky post Life After Lockdown, where each week I answer a set of question and share how the past week has been.  It is hard to believe we are now in week 71 since the first lockdown started.

For those wanting to take part the questions are

1. How are you feeling/coping?
2. What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?
3. What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?
4. What tips do you have for others when out and about?
5. What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?
6. What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
7. What has made you smile this week?
8. Anything else you would like to mention?

Life After Lockdown - Week 71

1) How are you feeling/coping?

I am struggling at the moment, I am still suffering and in pain.  I am a week into the medication I was given last week and still no improvement.  I do have my scan date through for a couple of weeks time so hopefully that will show what it is, or that it is nothing to worry about at least.

Also have the date through for C to try the injections for her migraines, which she is not looking forward to.  But we are hoping it helps to give her some relief.

2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days? Are you living life as normal, being cautious or still being very careful?

We had a meeting with the person who has taken over now that we have the EHCP in place.  Poor C broke down and let out a lot of emotions she has been holding in.  I have now withdrawn her college offer as it is too much for her.  She has been let down so badly, and this has affected her a great deal more than we realised.  We are looking at other avenues and have one hopefully in place which will be much more suited to her.

C had to do a test to see what level she is at for Maths and English, there was no fail or pass.  She sat the test at home and she is GCSE level for English and just under for Maths, which is amazing as she has barely had education during her illness.

I also met up with friends who I used to work with 30 years ago, it was the first time we have seen each other since lockdown and was so lovely to have a meal out and a proper catch up.

3) What’s a helpful tip you would like the future to know about living in / or after a pandemic?

Be respectful to others, and always carry a mask and hand sanitiser with you

4) What tips do you have for others when out and about?

Social distance be aware of people around you, and simple things have a mask with you at all times and use the hand sanitiser when entering shops etc

5) What is your favourite post of the past 7 days (it could be yours or someone else’s)?

Once again, my mind has gone blank – I must be more organised for next week

6) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

Pain medication, I am not one for taking them but have had to more and more and it has really helped, and my bed I am in so much pain by bed time I am grateful to go to finally get into bed

7) What has made you smile this week?

C she has come out with some real classics this week, and has such a contagious laugh as well

8) Anything else you would like to mention?

I mentioned last week about a poll I had started about getting a GP appointment.  I have also had a lot of messages regarding this as well.  I am going to be speaking to my MP regarding this as GP’s should be more accessible to us.

Thank you to

Sorry to hear you have been in a lot of pain, hope the medication helps and C feels better as well. Letting go of emotions sometimes is a good thing

My medication does not seem to be working, but will keep going with it and have my scan next week. C needed to let her emotions out and I think she feels better for it

She should be so happy with where her Maths and English skills are given how little education she’s managed to get x

She was happy, I was blown away but she was always top in English and Maths classes, and has always found Engish easy. She has always had no confidence with Maths as she did not find it easy. I will admit I sat with her and I could not answer the questions.

I hope it gives answers one way or another, and put me on the road to proper treatment as what I am on at the moment is having no effect or help at all

Thank you, it is something that does need adressing and my first stop is my MP, he is great and has spoken about ME before so am hoping he takes this on as well. I understand the initial telephone appointment, to reduce people going to the surgery for a face to face appointment, but I do not understand how they can refuse to see patients and guess what is wrong
