How To Find The Right Apartment To Rent In Chicago

Chicago is one of the largest cities in the US, with a population of over 2.7 million people. It’s located on the southwestern edge of Lake Michigan and is home to many tourist attractions, including Navy Pier, Millennium Park, and Grant Park. Chicago was originally settled in 1833 by a group that came from a Quaker community in Indiana.

Chicago is also known as “The Windy City,” a nickname given to it because of all the politicians who have been involved in corrupt scandals during its history.

If you are planning to rent an apartment in Chicago, you should know that there are a lot of options available. There is everything from studio apartments to luxury units available. Apartments in Chicago offer great deals on rent if you sign up for a lease. There are also many neighbourhoods with different vibes and activities to explore.

Chicago has tons of fun activities. You can go fishing at Belmont Harbour or watch the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. If you’re looking for more cultural experiences, visit the Museum of Science and Industry or the Art Institute of Chicago.

A good place to start your journey of finding the right apartment is the internet. There are many websites that have reviews for apartments that you can live in. You should read all of the reviews, and make note of the good and bad points. Zumper makes finding great apartments easy. With a list of all the apartments to rent, and a map so you can easily see where the apartment is located, and if it is the right area for you.

What to look for when looking for somewhere to live

There are so many things to think about when looking to rent somewhere new.  I have listed a few things that should be top of your list.

You should look at your finances, know what you have coming in each month and your outgoings.  You will then be able to see what you can afford each month on rent and bills.

Think about the location of where you want to live.

  • How long your daily commute will be
  • The neighbourhood – try to see it at different times to make sure there are no hidden surprises.
  • Transport
  • Location to shops, bars, restaurants
  • Are you near family and friends

Be Selective

I am not saying walk into an apartment and start picking up faults of decor or anything.  Look at a few options, walk around and see if you could envisage living there.  Would the layout work for how you want it.  Try to picture your belongings there.  Most importantly do you feel at home, some places you will just not get a good vibe about, others you will love. Go back a second time just to make sure before you sign the agreement.

Finding the right home is important, do you have any other tips that may help others in finding their new home, that I have not mentioned above.
