Diary Of A Menopausal Mum – 06/08/2021

We have made it through another week, and the weekend is in touching distance. Which also means it is time for me weekly diary of a menopausal Mum post where I share the ups and downs of my week.

Education

education

You will all know the very long battle we have had to get C into education, after being let down due to her illness. You will know she has an offer to study her GCSE’s at a local college.

This week, we had a meeting with the person who has now taken over her education care and EHCP.  She is lovely, supportive and understanding.  The meeting was going well, when C got teary and then broke down. I finally got her to tell me what was wrong, and it hit home to both me and our support that she has been affected more than we realised.

Although she wants to do her education and mix with others, she is scared and suffering anxiety.  I said again she needs counselling and this is now being looked into.  We also made the decision to withdraw her college offer and work on a slower and smaller route.  Next week she is going into a workshop without me but our support will be there and will be sitting with her all the time. I will write a full post on this as so much information, and I know my other posts have helped.

Menopause

woman having a hot flush

Last week I shared how I am suffering with pain and what I think is an infection.  I had another telephone conversation with extended hours last Friday, and he was shocked I had not seen someone and his words were after the initial telephone appointment, patients who need examinations should by law be offered a face to face appointment.

Monday morning I rang and got another telephone appointment, still refused a face to face appointment for swabs to be taken.  The Dr said she knows exactly what is wrong with me, you couldn’t make this up.  She put another scan appointment through marked as urgent, and prescribed 6 weeks worth of treatment.

On talking to friends and family, it transpires that this is happening all over including my friends 1 week old granddaughter.  If you look on my social media you will see a poll I have started and am going to take this further.  As it really is a mater of time before something more serious happens.

After everything C has been through it’s not surprising she now has anxiety. Poor little thing. Kids do hide it well sometimes. I hope the workshop goes well for her x

Honestly, I have been waiting for it to happen for a long time, and so glad she has finally let it out although I think it surprised her a bit as well. Hopefully this is the best way forward for her

I was talking with a friend the other day, and she was saying about her baby granddaughter was ill and just a couple of weeks old and they could not get an appointment. It really does need changing and this is something I am going to keep shouting about as at times you do need a face to face appointment

My autistic son has just had his EHCP finalised so I’m really hoping it helps him going forward in the years to come.

I am so glad you have had your EHCP finalised, if I have learnt anything from this there is so much support and help once you are in the years where school has finished, you just need to keep making a noise until you find it

That’s a shame you’ve had to withdraw C’s college offer, but it’s for the best so she can build up to it x

It needed to be done, she would have crashed in her first few days and we now have an amazing lady helping her with a new course which will be so much easier for her and with so much support there if she needs it.

Oh bless C it sounds like you have done the right thing for her, sometimes it can be so overwhelming to make such a big step and you do need to do it slower.

I was talking to my friend over the weekend, she needed to let it all out and it has been a long time coming but so glad she finally let go. This is the best thing for her, also with the new course being done at our local library she can get her independance back by going by bus herself as well.
