Different Methods to Cook Lamb

According to reports, the lamb industry in Australia is worth more than $1.1 billion.

Here are a few common ways to cook this juicy meat.

  • Lamb shanks, a part of the lower leg, can be slow-cooked on a grill or an iron pan.
  • Lamb legs and steaks are an ideal choice for quacking and preparing a juicy plate of meat.
  • Lamb rump, which comes from the backside of the body, can be cooked in a microwave.
  • Rolled lamb loins are the most expensive part of the animal. You can make them with bone and or boneless.
  • The rack of the lamb is the easiest part of the meat to cook with crisp and tender skin.

Choosing the Right Ingredients to Cook Lamb

Each type of lamb cut needs different elements to add the pinch of flavour and elevate the taste to another level.

Cooking a Lamb Shoulder

You must marinate a lamb shoulder with olive oil, rosemary, sliced garlic, and sea salt and refrigerate overnight. You can then slow-cook the piece, bake or roast it, covering it with a thin aluminium foil to make a crisp, juicy plate of food.

You can also use a premium red wine while cooking to enhance the flavours.

Cooking Lamb Chops

If you are using lamb chops, you can choose to add Mediterranean flavours. Garlic, thyme, lemon juice, parsley, and mint are the best ingredients to cook lamb chops. You can roast aubergine and peppers to give the recipe a tangy twist.

Cooking Lamb Ribs

Moroccan style lamb ribs are a delicious dish. You can prepare this with a dash of spices like chilli flakes, lemon zest, pepper, coriander and cumin powder. You can choose to slow roast the dish by glazing it with pomegranate or honey.

Tips for Cooking Lamb

Cooking a perfect plate of meat is not a child’s play. Here are some tricks that may help you to serve a juicy, well-cooked lamb.

It is essential to remove and keep the meat out of the refrigerator for at least two hours before you start cooking.

Choosing the proper cut will determine the method of cooking. For example, if you choose to cook breast, it is best to mince it and slow-roast it till it becomes tender.

It is essential to prep and marinate the meat for a long time to get the best flavours.

You must continuously monitor the meat and turn it on all sides to cook it evenly all over. Maintaining a consistent temperature in the microwave or flame in the stove at a medium level throughout the cooking process is crucial.

Lamb is a favourite in our house, and one meat apart from chicken that C eats, as apparently the smell of roast dinners gives her a headache
