This is the first year we didn’t have a list of what C wanted for christmas, we made sure…

The Speculaas Spice Company

The Speculaas Spice Company

As it is now officially Christmas week, I thought I would start off with a lovely christmas post. While I was busy looking for ideas for christmas and my gift guide, I was contacted by a lovely man called Steven from the Speculaas Spice Company, asking if I would be interested in trying their spice mix.  As I always do a lot of baking at christmas, I had to say yes. Speculaas spice had become commonly available in the Netherlands in the 18th century, dutch bakers began to make their…

An Update – 17/12/16

It seems ages since I last did an update, I really must make a resolution for 2017 to do my weekly updates, as I do get a lot of messages asking where they have gone. Things have been pretty stressful and busy here, I will start with an update on C, as you know she has ME and since returning back to school after half term, she has not been coping too well with it.  We have celebrated her becoming a teenager in November and all our plans ended up…

Blogtober Day – Favourite Christmas/Birthday Present Ever

Blogtober Day – Favourite Christmas/Birthday Present Ever

Day 6 of Blogtober is asking what my favourite christmas/birthday present has been. I have always been lucky that when I was growing up I always got what I asked for on my christmas/birthday list, and my husband is always great with surprising me, it is hard to choose, but I have chosen one. A few years ago, we desperately needed another car, and for my birthday he got me a little sports car which was a convertible.  As my husband at the time used to do car detailing and…

Back to reality

Back to reality

We have had Christmas and welcomed in the New Year.  It is now time to get back to normality (whatever that is). I had my day all planned for today, been thinking about it over the last couple of weeks, but today is going to be a hit and miss day. My Daughter is not due back to school until 10.50 this morning, why I have no idea, every other school goes back at normal time.  The only good thing about this was the alarm could be set a little…

My Christmas

My Christmas

Hope everyone had a good christmas, ours was lovely as always. Christmas Eve started with me making sausage rolls with christmas songs blasting and singing away. After lunch I popped to the pub with my husband for our annual christmas eve drink, our daughter stayed at home with my parents.  I fell in love with the mulled cider and had a couple of those and my christmas baileys latte, before heading home for dinner and then prep the veg for the next day. After dinner my daughter and parents went…

My Week – 19/12/15

My Week – 19/12/15

This has been a funny old week really, last week of the school term, my Daughter was ready to have a break, she has been quite stroppy and moody this past week or so. Monday I woke feeling ok but a little sad as it was the 17th anniversary of my Grandma’s death, she was like a second Mum to me, and I still miss her and chat to her in my head, one of my biggest regrets is that she never met her Great-Granddaughter she would have loved her….

My Week – 13/12/15

My Week – 13/12/15

This week has been a right mix of emotions, I have seriously been through the mill. My Mum was called in for a laparoscopy on Wednesday, she had the call on Tuesday afternoon, following a scan she had last week.  Luckily it was not as serious as we thought and hopefully with the medication she has now been put on and monitoring she should be fine. Obviously, this did not stop me worrying though. Thursday evening was chatting to my stepson and his girlfriend and they confided something to me…
