A very common cause of brain fog is a lack of good sleep. Many have felt this after waking up from a restless sleep, feeling very tired and confused in the morning, which is basically brain fog. It’s even worse if you have a sleeping disorder, while frequent sleep deprivation can make the symptoms more severe.
Stress is very dangerous, wreaking havoc on both our mental and physical wellbeing if left untreated. It’s caused by many things, and one of the main problems it causes is brain fatigue, especially during moments of severe stress such as the loss of a loved one.
Your diet may be causing brain fog in various ways, so it may be worth addressing to eliminate the problem. For instance, if you have certain allergies that you are unaware of (e.g. lactose intolerance) it could be connected to your brain fog, and even something as simple as dehydration may be causing the issue.
How to Eliminate it
Get a good Night’s Sleep
An obvious way to eliminate brain fog caused by tiredness or stress is to get a better night’s sleep. Granted, this is easier said than done for many, but even something as simple as going to bed at the same time each night makes a big difference.
Try sticking to a regular sleep pattern and make sure you get at least eight hours of sleep, although some people are fine with just six hours, so try work out what works best for your body.
Exercise is a great way to reduce stress and eliminate brain fog in general. By pumping blood, you increase oxygen levels and receive mental-boosting endorphins, which improves both physical and mental well-being. Your brain gets healthier and you feel much better, with improvements to memory, cognitive functioning, and learning.
Take time to relax
De-stressing isn’t easy for everyone, but simply taking the time to sit back and chill out can help remove stress and get rid of brain fog. There are various ways to relax, whether it’s listening to your favourite music, reading a book, deep breathing exercises or even meditating, all of which help eliminate stress and brain fog.
Improve Your Diet
Consuming less sugar, drinking more water, and avoiding processed foods and excessive alcohol all go towards a healthier diet, which in turn reduces the chances of brain fog quite significantly. Reducing sugar is especially important, as it means the brain gets a better source of energy, so doesn’t suffer from fogginess.
