We hear it in the news, read it in the papers, see it on social media and at times hear our friends or family talk about it, but do you know what to do in times of medical negligence when things go wrong?
How do you know if you have suffered medical negligence?
If you think you have suffered with medical negligence, then chances are you have, some of the common causes are
- Incorrect diagnosis
- Delay in diagnosis
- Errors during surgery
- Incorrect medication
- Failing to refer the patient to a specialist
- Failing to provide advice or treatment options or warn of potential risks
Other factors to take into account in your claim are
- Loss of earnings
- Cost of care and assistance needed due to negligent injury
- The cost of private treatment
- Transport or travelling expenses
Unfortunately, medical negligence is something I hear of everyday, with having a child who has a chronic illness and the constant barriers and brick walls myself and other parents face on a daily basis is heartbreaking. The main elements we face is incorrect diagnosis, delays in diagnosis, medication and the lack of care, you can read our story here.
So many professionals do not understand chronic illness and how to treat it, I have been told many times by my GP they do not understand the illness or have no idea how to treat it in children. The scary thing is that with the right knowledge our children would probably be a lot better than they are now, as lack of understand and knowledge can cause negative effects to their health.
When faced with someone who has an illness or injury your life changes from that moment, it is at this time when things start to fall apart in many ways from being able to work or care for yourself.
It is such a shame that companies like Axiclaim have to exist, but unfortunately it is becoming a necessity in the world we are living in. I know personally how negligence can turn your life upside down, and as much as I hope you never have to use them, it is reassuring to know that there are people out there who will fight your corner and try to make things a little easier for you.
