The ups and downs of living with a teen

January Round Up

We are one month down into the new year and already it is February, where did January go, so time for my monthly round up.

As always I will start with C, she has had a really bad month and in a bad crash, she is experiencing 24/7 migraine type headaches and problems with her legs, I have found her collapsed a couple of times and had to help her back up which luckily we could laugh at.  Her medication needs amending and this is the start of my constant battles to get this sorted, as unfortunately for ME and Fibromyalgia sufferers there is not a lot of  support out there, and we are left to struggle on.  She has hardly been able to have her tuition even though we have tried, but have got her into school a couple of times where that has been enough for her and she has not been able to have a lesson.  Also we are changing Tutors after half term which is very sad as we have grown to really love her current tutor.  Hopefully next month I will be able to update with more positive news.

January is a busy month for birthdays with my husband and two friends within days of each other, and we had a joint night out at a Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet night.  I was a huge Duran Duran fan when I was younger and luckily the night did not let us down, as we sang along to all the hits.

My husband and I also had a trip into London for his birthday and had a great day, we booked to go to an expensive steak restaurant where he has been to before and always promised to take me.  Unfortunately it was not as good as expected and cost a fortune so we will not be going back.  But apart from that we had a great day celebrating.

I have been having a bit of a hard time emotionally with C as it really does affect me knowing what her life should be like and to how she is now and it really breaks my heart.  On top of that our eldest has caused a lot of drama which has just lead me into hibernation mode and shutting myself off a bit, which is unlike me.  But it shows that chronic illness does take its toll on the whole family.

Onto more positive things, I had Nanny cuddles with my gorgeous granddaughter who is now 2 months old and smiling away.  We had quite a chat and put the worlds to right.  We also have the arrival of our grandson in the next few weeks so more exciting times to come.  My husband is despairs of me as I keep finding gorgeous baby things to buy, but as I tell him that is what grandparents do.

February is going to be a positive month, with lots to look forward too.  Do you have anything planned for next month?

  5. Becoming a grandparent must be such a magical experience. All the cuddles and loveliness without having to stay up all night breastfeeding, lol! I am so vexed to hear your daughter is going through such a rough time though; I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it better.

    1. Becoming a grandparent has been amazing, I can not begin to tell you how special it is to hold your grandchild for the first time, and at 2 months old she sends me pictures and updates 🙂 always starting with hello Nanny. We are about to welcome our second grandchild anytime now as well. C is really struggling at the moment I really wish I could take it all away from her and make her better x

  6. Your Nanny cuddles with your Grand daughter sound like perfection, you really can’t beat it can you. Sounds like it has been a bit of an up and down month, keep focusing on the good and positive. It helps, even just a little. Hope C is doing better.

  7. As you know, I really feel for C, my thoughts and prayers are always with her and I pray that someday a medication, or a miracle comes that even suppresses her pain by a bit, or by a load. I do hope that the next month is so much better. 🙏🏼

    1. Thank you, I hope so too, at the moment I will just be grateful for someone to reajust her medication so she is not in constant pain and bedridden x

  8. Sorry that the steakhouse turned out to be a disappointment the steakhouse turned out for you especially that it was expensive. I hope the drama with your eldest minimises or ends

  9. Sorry to hear you’ve had a difficult month (and C too, I hope February is better). Nice to hear you had a nice time in London (minus the restaurant, it’s so annoying when that happens). xx

    1. It was a shame about the restaurant as my husband had such a good meal there the last time he went, but lesson learnt we will not be going back x
