October Roundup

1st of November already, this year really is flying can not believe it is time for me to do my October roundup already.

As always I will start off with C, she seems to have gone down hill a bit this month, she is in a lot of pain and a few other symptoms coming through, which I am hoping is just the weather.  She has collapsed a bit more and is often found on the floor, luckily her Dad has always been around as he is the only one who can lift her up.  We are having problems with her eating again, as in her words ‘everything tastes funny’.  It is a nightmare trying to get her to eat something that tastes ok, as one day it can taste fine and the next will taste funny, so I am forever having to find something that is ok.  She is also quite down at the moment as she is desperate to get back into school and do proper school lessons, but can barely do her tuition which is two half hour sessions a week.  We will keep on plodding on and encouraging her as much as we can.

I have had quite a busy October starting with a meal out at Spice Restaurant in Chalfont St Giles for my Mother In Laws birthday.  We visited the same restaurant last year.  If you live local to the area I would recommend as their Sunday menu is such good value and the food is lovely.  We all had a great time and C managed to cope quite well with her outing.

I also had a great evening at the press launch of The Chocolate Show at Olympia, this really was my ideal show as everywhere you looked there was chocolate, as well as lots of samples to try.  If you missed my post you can read all about the show here.

My husband treated me to a lunch date at The Italian Taste in Surbiton, we have been looking for a good Italian Restaurant for a long time.  It is a lovely restaurant with friendly staff, which shows as they also had regulars coming in and being treated like old friends.  It was lovely to sit and chat over a glass of wine.  The food did not let us down either we had a sharing platter to start of bread, cold meats and olives.  We both chose a special of the day for our mains with my husband going for lobster pasta and I chose the slow braised pork shank which was amazing but sadly I could not finish as the portions were massive.  At the end of the meal we were presented with a shot of Limoncello and then another glass and the bottle left for us, we did not have anymore as I am not a big drinker anyway.  We have been looking for a good local Italian restaurant for a long time now, and pleased we have finally found one.

Sadly just over a week ago my poor old cat who was 24 passed away, I have had her since she was a tiny kitten, although she was old she never really looked her age and always looked very kitten like, but this past month or so you could see her ageing, and the day before she died I just knew it was coming she did not want to eat and I tried everything to tempt her, and she just wanted cuddles.  I am still finding it hard not to see her, especially when it is feeding time.

That is my October, looking forward to November now and celebrating (fingers crossed) C’s birthday next week. How was your October?
