Day 18 of the blogtober17 challenge is talking about relaxation, as a busy Mum this is something that does not come easy, so am going to write about how I manage to get some time to relax and recharge my batteries.
We all know that being a parent is not a 9-5 job, it is 24 hours a day 7 days a week, with no holidays or days off, so we have to find our own ways to relax. Having a child with a chronic illness means that I have to plan my days around her.
Once I have been in to see C in the morning, helped her to the bathroom if needed and got her breakfast, drink etc, I sit down and enjoy a coffee and try to plan my day ahead.
Walk the dog
Although, some days this is a chore, it can be therapeutic and I get a bit of time out of the house and just think and clear my head, with no interruptions.
Once a week myself and my husband, if we can, try to go out and have a bit of time to ourselves, whether this is for a meal, or just a quick drink. Just to take off our parenting hats. C is fine as my parents are there to help her if she needs them.
I love to bake, although I do not get as much time to bake as I used to, this is something that always relaxes me while I whisk up my latest creation.
Whether it is paint my nails or have a relaxing bath, just something that will put a smile on my face and make me feel a little relaxed.
Watch a film
There is nothing nicer than putting the laptop away and snuggling up on the sofa to watch a film with my family
