4 Activities to Finish the Summer Holidays on a High

Summer is nearly over, so before your kids get back into their usual routine, it’s important to make the most of it before school starts again. The following activities such as paintball, zorbing and a city break are an excellent way to finish the summer on a high.

Just as it always does, time seems to be flying by in 2017 and the end of summer is almost here. This means the UK’s short window of consistent sunny weather will come to a close and the new academic year will begin. For children, this can be a time of mixed emotions due to the excitement and dread of going back to school, so a day of exciting activities is a fantastic mental boost and a great way to conclude a memorable summer.

  1. A City Break

Getting away from familiar surroundings and exploring a new city is a fun and exciting way to make the most of the remaining summer weeks. The UK benefits from having some of the most beautiful scenery and iconic cities the world has to offer. This means you can enjoy the sights, shopping and attractions of the inner city, while being able to experience the magnificent rural surroundings nearby.

London, for example, is the heart and soul of England and provides visitors with historic sites, modern architecture and activities in abundance. Edinburgh is a scenic Scottish gem that offers history, countryside and artisan culture to delve into. These are just two of the many cities worth exploring, all of which offering something unique and exciting. Schedule and finances permitted, you may even want to venture further afield for an international adventure.

  1. Paintball

If you’re looking for an exciting and unique way to finish off your summer children’s summer holiday, you can’t go wrong with a day of paintballing. Adrenaline-fuelled action, expertly designed battlefields and gameplay that’s suitable for both children and adults is yours to enjoy with paintballing. You’ll soon find that the competitive and exhilarating nature of the sport is something that’s fantastic to experience with your kids — and is a sure-fire way to make it a day to remember.

If you’ve taken our city break advice onboard, you may want to set your sights on London. A day of paintball in London — or technically paintball near London — will provide you with rural settings just outside the city that provides the perfect environment for immersive combat scenarios.

  1. Visit a Theme Park

For a day out that offers a roller coaster of excitement (as well as actual roller coasters), theme parks are a classic choice for summer holiday fun. The UK has a wide range of parks that suit a variety of age groups. Whether you have younger children who will be satisfied with smaller rides, or older kids who require something more fast-paced and exciting, you’ll be able to find something to suit your needs.

Thorpe Park and Alton Towers are both extremely popular for their enormous range of rides and attractions, as well as the fact that they provide exciting experiences for a wide variation of ages. Another fantastic and also unique choice is Legoland. At one time, this was just a day of excitement for kids, but now, thanks to the revitalisation of the Lego brand via films and video games, is a much sought-after experience for visitors of all ages.

  1. Zorbing

Although you may have thought a day of paintball near London was going to be the most random and unique addition to this list, Zorbing has just (literally) rolled in to take that title. Many activities will require you to exert yourself or perform certain actions to get the most out of it. Zorbing, on the other hand, simply requires you to climb into a large inflatable orb, get safely harnessed in, and proceed to roll down a steep grass bank.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it? It is That’s what makes it so brilliant and massively appealing to lots of people. Not only are the courses brilliantly designed for the ultimate zorbing experience, but there are also zorbs equipped with multiple harnesses to enhance the excitement and hilarity of your day out.

Lovely end of holidays ideas. I love the look of zorbing. My boy is just a little too young to have tried it during our last few summer days together.

Zorbing has been on my list forever! I don’t know why but I always chicken out when I get the chance to do it! Maybe I’m embarrassed about all the people who might see, I don’t know? But it looks like so much fun!
