The ups and downs of living with a teen

Weekly Update – 31st July 2016

Almost the end of July already, this year really is flying by quickly.  It is time for me to do a catch up with you, I know I did not write a weekly update last week, but I did have a very good reason why.

I will start off with C, and the reason for not updating last week.  We had our first appointment with our new Consultant, we had heard so many great things about him, and I know people that travel from all over the country to see him, so having him based in one of our local hospitals is great.  Thursday morning, I managed to get C awake and up and we all set off for the appointment.  I went in with C and my husband waited outside as the room was so small.  The consultant was lovely, he talked to C with me picking up and helping her along, he examined her as she had not been examined  before. He then diagnosed Severe ME and TMD (which we already know) and also Fibromyalgia and Joint Hypermobility.  Hearing the full diagnosis was a relief to know but also another knock, at just how much she is suffering.

Her medication has not been helping her head pains and needed addressing, which I have been fighting and arguing about with everybody for the past 2-3 weeks.  He has also amended her medication, we also have been given a huge list of supplements to give her, luckily we can start her off with a few and add to them.  So my Husband and I sat down that afternoon working out which ones to start her on.  Hopefully we will start to see a bit of an improvement soon.

In other news, I found out what sex my new grandchild is going to be, but can not say anything as being kept as a surprise until the baby shower, but now I know which section of the baby clothes to go to now.  I am also excited to be going to the baby shower as well, which is in a few weeks.

I also had a lovely date afternoon/evening with my Husband on Friday as we went to Cocktails in the City we had a great time.

Welcome cocktails

We left fairly early as the weather decided to change and started raining, but we had a lovely time walking around and sampling cocktails and playing various games.

Hopefully next week, I will be able to write about a couple of outings with C, as after talking with her other consultant on Friday, we have agreed I need to try to take her out a few times a week.  So hoping next week to be able to add some happy posts about our little outings.

I hope you have all had a good week x
