The ups and downs of living with a teen

A Little Update – 21/05/2017

I am not sure what is happening lately but the weeks seem to be flying by and I suddenly realise I have not been updating you, on what has been happening at StressedMum HQ.  So time for a little update.

I will start off as always with C, she is in a major crash still, one night last week after I had settled her to bed, she finally got a message through to me saying she was stuck.  I rushed into her room and found her fallen on the floor and she could not get up, I tried to help her but had to cal her Dad to help her up.  Her jaw is getting worse by the day, no painkillers help and you can see the pain just by looking at her.  Trying to feed her is a nightmare, as she has to eat soft food, as she can not eat anything else, this obviously is (in my view) having a knock on effect with her ME.

Luckily, she has physio for her jaw this week, so am hoping this will help her slowly get her jaw back to being bearable to eat and talk.

Another positive, there is a very good Consultant who works from a hospital very close to us (it is the hospital where we had to take her to out of hours the other week), he actually understands ME, and will thoroughly test and diagnose conditions and prescribe medication to help.  I know a few people who have seen him now and are seeing improvements.  My friend (who has taken her son), thinks C also has Fibromyalgia and possible EDS, which may be the reason for her jaw.  Luckily our GP has sent a referral so we are waiting on an appointment coming through.

Last weekend, we had our eldest here for the weekend, and he also sister sat, while me and my husband went to our friends Daughters 18th.  C loved having a bit of one on one time with her brother.  Yes as they get older they learn to actually like each other.

This week, my husband and I managed a night away, watch out for my review coming soon, I managed to switch off and recharge my batteries.

I have also been fairly quiet on my blog, but have been working hard behind the scenes, and I will be sharing all this with you in the coming weeks.

Also, May is ME Awareness month, and I have been posting weekly about ME and raising awareness, and the response has been amazing.  I would like to thank you for reading my posts and sharing, also to the lovely messages that I have received and even been able to offer support to some.

I hope you have all had a great week x

  1. I really hope C gets better! I actually had a girl on my uni course doing a whole 360 with her ME. She went from barely being able to care for herself to living in a house full of students and going on about uni life like we all did – and yes, that included the occasional party and club nights. I can only hope the same thing for little C!

    1. Thank you, I am feeling positive about it, he comes very highly recommended and one of my friends has seen him, and so much easier being close as well x
