The ups and downs of living with a teen

The Power Of Social Media

We all know about social media, we all use social media, whether it is Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or one of the many others.  It is a way of keeping up to date with family and friends, make friends with people you would never have met before.  You can  keep up to date with news and your local area, the list is never ending.  It really can be used for anything you can think of.

Before I began blogging, I used to use Facebook, I had heard of the other platforms but did not really use them.  I now used them as an extension to my blog, and also personally (now that I understand them).

The three main platforms I use all the time, is Instagram where I share my blog posts and also personal pictures as well and mix in a few funny memes, and I love following other instagrammers. I am always popping on and having a look through the latest posts.

Twitter, has become my new best friend, it is such an important platform to me, for many reasons you can always keep up to date with people you follow, find out what is trending both serious topics and fun topics and also is a great work tool for me in both promoting my posts and finding opportunities.

The platform that has amazed me the most this week is Facebook, I have used Facebook for years now so it was the first social media platform I used when I started my blog.  I share my posts on there, other bloggers posts, charity posts, memes and some posts I just think need sharing for various reasons.

I was looking through my facebook a couple of days ago, and a post came up, and I read it and was honestly unsure what to say.  Was it a joke or was this person being serious.  I shared it on my personal wall and also my StressedMum page.  I could not believe the response this post got, my page went absolutely mental and got over 40,000 views.  I have never seen anything like it before. I was out for most of the time it was going mad as I was lucky enough to be invited to an event (post on this to come soon). So my poor phone was going mad. In case you missed it the post is here

Obviously, this is social media at its best and obviously got the response the person who originally wrote the post wanted.

What are your thoughts on social media? Is it a good thing or a bad thing?

I think it has its place when used correctly, but can also do a lot of harm

  3. I think social media can be used for good and for bad. I try to use it in a positive way to engage with friends and inspire..but some do use it for the dumbest reasons and nasty reasons.

  4. Social Media has both good and bad traits and sometimes I feel for us bloggers it is better to have social media even with tis bad traits. They say the devil you know is better than the one you dont.

  5. Without a doubt social media has completely changed my life. I can still remember a time without social media though and although I love to use it, I do worry about what long term effects over use of social media can have on people x

    1. I remember life before social media as well. I think if used correctly it is a great thing, but can be abused very easily x

    1. You are right, I am usually on social media at some point, but do love the times when I can’t get on it and can switch off x

  6. I love social media for how it’s opened up my social circle for me, I’m very often housebound due to my ill health so social media makes me feel connected when I can’t be places in person.
Now, I have experienced the bad side of social media on occasion, especially being a plus size blogger, but overall the positives outweigh the negatives for now! x

    1. I totally agree about it opening up your social circle, my Daughter is housebound due to ill health and it means she can still be connected with her friends, so is much less alienated x
