The ups and downs of living with a teen

My Week – 06/06/16

I am a bit late in doing my post this week, as we were away for the weekend, so am doing my little update for you today.

As I mentioned last week, we had both the boys here for the weekend staying, which was great having all 3 together under one roof for the first time in ages, it really affected my Daughter.  Although she was in bed most of the time they were here.

Luckily it was half term last week, but unfortunately, while everyone was out and about enjoying themselves, she was suffering, the only trip out we had was on Wednesday to the Dentist, and that knocked her out for the rest of the week.

I also need to apologise to everyone for being so quiet, I had a pretty bad week last week and it just brought me down.  I think it was seeing everyone else go out and have fun, and we were sat at home :(.  It really hit home, just how horrible this illness is.

This weekend, my husband went away with friends for a surprise party, so I went over to my friends and had a lovely relaxing weekend.  My Daughter stayed with my parents, and once we got to our friends and the men had gone off on their travels, we had a relaxing afternoon just chatting and then popped to the shops.  In the evening we went out for dinner.  Sunday morning was nice and relaxing before myself, friend and her two daughters hit the shops for a bit of retail therapy.  First stop  was to get me some flip flops as stupidly in the hurry to get sorted on Saturday morning, I packed boots, and my feet were roasting.  I actually ended up with 2 pairs of flip flops, canvas shoes  and three tops, and treated my Daughter to a few bits.  We had a nice lunch out before heading home to find our husbands were back.  I then had to drive home, and I hate the M25 so was moaning and tutting at other drivers all the way.

I then put my Mum role back on and after a lovely chat and catch up with my Daughter it was back to normality.

I needed this weekend away, I think, to recharge my batteries although it felt weird not having to run around after her and put her needs first.

I am now back on track and raring to go, so normal service is to be resumed.

I haven’t really got much else to report, as we really did not do anything.

Hope you all had a great week.

Thank you for visiting x

  1. Good to know that you had a relaxing weekend and good for you on buying so many new pair of shoes. Motherhood can be very exhausting and I think nobody should feel guilty to need a bit of ‘me’ time sometimes.

    1. It was a lovely weekend, before she got ill, she would have come over with me and had a catch up with my friends Daughters, but we all agreed it would be best to stay home, which is why I got her some treats. And a girl can never have enough shoes x

    1. Thank you, it was needed and has made a difference to my mood, and am ready for this weeks battles. I don’t want to feel like I did last week again x

    1. It certainly has helped and it was so nice to just have me to worry about, although I was in constant contact with my Daughter and missed her like mad, and felt like my right arm had fallen off. It is certainly helping with this weeks battles.

  2. I think I could live near a beach like that. Sounds like you all had a great time, despite being gridlocked on the M25. It happens to us all.

    Thanks for Sharing

    1. That picture was actually from when we visited the Dominican last year, but just thought it was a nice happy picture, I could live there though. I just hate the M25 we live just off one of the junctions and it drives me mad at times. We did have a great weekend though x

  3. Sounds like you needed a break and I’m so glad you got one. Don’t worry about missing out and not doing what everyone else seems to be doing, just enjoy each other’s company and make home into your perfect location and destination 🙂

    1. It has been quite an emotional week, will be updating why in my next weekly update, but although its been tough, it is hopefully meaning things are going in the right direction, so not all bad. Glad I reminded you about the flip flops I live in them in the summer x

  5. Good on you for taking some time out for yourself. Sometimes you need to just recharge your batteries and it doesn’t just benefit you but the others around you 🙂 xxx

    1. Thank you, it was needed and helped me get ready for this week. I think we all need a bit of self time every now and then x

  6. At the end of the day we also have to look out for ourselves because if we don’t … we won’t be able to take care of them / our loved ones. Glad you’re feeling much better now.
