Happy Easter

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone, hope you are all having a lovely day, this long weekend has thrown me out totally but at least I am right today that it is Sunday.

As I have done previously with Valentines Day and Mothers Day, I thought I would find some fun facts behind Easter, as we all know what Easter is all about, and not just the chocolate 🙂

  1. The first Chocolate Easter Egg in the UK was produced by Fry’s of Bristol in 1873.
  2. In 2007, an egg covered in diamonds, sold for nearly £9 million.
  3. The tallest chocolate easter egg ever made was in 2011 in Italy, it measured 10.39 meters in height and weighed 7,200 kg.  Which is taller than a giraffe and heavier than an elephant.
  4. The white lily, is the symbol of the resurrection and is known a the Special Easter Flower
  5. Pysanka, is the traditional name given for painting eggs.
  6. 76% of people eat the ears of the chocolate bunny first.
  7. Sales of chocolate at Easter, makes up 10% of the UK’s whole spending of chocolate over the whole year.
  8. Easter Eggs are considered to symbolise and represent joy, celebration and new life.
  9. 500 million Cadbury’s cream eggs are made each year, with 2 thirds being consumed in the UK.  That is 3.5 eggs per person in the UK
  10. 80 million chocolate eggs are purchased each year in the UK.

When the kids were younger we used to have great fun, the Easter Bunny would leave big eggs out for when they got up and they would look around the house for them, and then there would be the egg hunt for the smaller eggs.  They used to love this, and so did we.

These days as they are all older, we no longer have the easter bunny visit anymore.

What traditions do you do as a family at Easter, I love hearing what other people do.

Thank you for visiting x
