The ups and downs of living with a teen

My Week – 9/01/16

I haven’t done one of these posts for a while now, with christmas and new year, so thought I would do a quick one.

At the moment I can not wait to welcome in 2017, we have had a horrible start to 2016, it is all too heartbreaking at the moment and not really ready or able to talk about it yet but have spent most of the week in tears.  Am hoping there will be some light at the end of the tunnel and it can to sorted.

My Daughter was back at school on Monday, but was off sick on Thursday and again ill last night, she is never ill and seems to be picking up all sorts lately, but am very worried about her at the moment so that is stressing me a bit as well, but then I am a born worrier I literally worry about anything and everything, and then worry about the amount of worrying.

So that is the negatives out the way, as my husband says what has happened has happened and no point dwelling on it, and he is right.

I do seem to have got my cooking and baking mojo back and wanting to try different things.

Last night for dinner I made Paul Hollywoods Beef Cobbler, we were watching a program last week and he did this, I have never had cobbler before.  It was amazing and we have enough left for a dinner another day so will freeze it down and have it as a quick dinner.

Tomorrow we are having Slow cooked lamb and Boulangere potatoes again another program we were watching and I said ooh we have lamb in the freezer, am hoping this is going to be amazing as well, and hopefully my daughter will eat this as lamb is her favourite.

I love watching cooking programs and often think that sounds lovely.

I also having my baking head on, so am going to spend the day baking I think.

So that is my weekend, I hope you have a good weekend with whatever you are planning doing.

I hope 2016 has been a good start for you, I won’t be down for long?

Thank you for visiting x

    1. I love bake off, and the beef cobbler was gorgeous, we watched his program last weekend and I have been wanting to try it ever since :). As everyone was in bed earlier I sat and watched cooking programs which is one of my guilty pleasures. I hope she does too she is so quiet and hardly eaten today, although just taken up a bit of my chocolate cake I made for her so hoping she will eat that.

    1. Tomorrow is another day but was chatting to my husband earlier and it may be fixable so feeling a bit happier about it. Thank you x

  2. New day new chances. I love watching cooking program’s but never actually attempted anything from them. So far my 2016 is ok but my partner is away for 8 weeks tomorrow so not looking forward to that.

    1. Exactly am feeling a bit more positive now. I am forever sitting watching cooking programs and going that sounds nice and never make it, am so glad I did though as the beef cobbler was gorgeous and going to be a regular meal now. The lamb is in the oven (hubby cooking today) and smells delicious and my Daughter is feeling a lot better so hopefully will eat some. I hope the next 8 weeks don’t drag too much for you x

    1. She usually misses all the bugs, just seems to be unlucky this year, she is actually up today and chatty and says she is feeling better but she now has a streaming cold, which I told her is it all coming out of her now. Hope your nephew is better soon x

    1. Hopefully there is a little light shining in the distance, so hopefully will be ok. She felt better today and has eaten a dinner so am happy, there is a lot going around at the moment

  3. Aww I’m sorry to hear you have had rough start to the year. I know what you mean, my daughter is rarely ill so you tend to worry a bit more don’t you when they do get ill (I think they’re similar ages too?) I look forward to seeing some posts on what you have managed to rustle up maybe it will be therapeutic for you when you get going x

    1. It has been a bad start, but as my husband said in the middle of it all, that it can’t get any worse, am hoping it may be able to be sorted now just need to wait a bit.
My Daughter is still ill, had her at the dr yesterday and it could be glandular fever waiting on blood test, but talking to her attendance officer at school, she said in year 7 they seem to get so many illnesses even if they did not have any in primary school, so made me feel a bit better.

    1. After the weekend, hopefully we can turn it around, but it is all still not a definite yet, but you just have to pick yourself up and carry on x

    1. I know I have spoken to you about what happened, it is being sorted lots of hard work for a bit but will be worth it and hopefully not take too long to sort out. She is still poorly although back at school only for a few hours, and we managed to get there on time this morning, not that I am worried about that too much at the moment, she is so shattered though really knocking it out of her x
