The ups and downs of living with a teen

Staying Safe

If like me you drive a car and when you go out to make a trip to do the school run, to work, shopping, visiting etc, you expect to just get in the car, turn the engine on and go.

I drive my husband mad if I hear a noise, or some silly little light comes on, or it pings at me telling me something, I have been known to pull over and ring him up to ask him if it is ok to carry on.

I am however, very hot on brakes and tyres, because if they fail in anyway your just not going to stop when you need too. If I get the slightest feeling my brakes are not right I go into panic mode and go on and on until my husband has checked them.  The same goes for tyres I have been known for the kids to be in the car waiting to go and I just go around looking to see if the tread is ok, my husband does have a tool to check this, but usually you can tell if they need changing, and tyre pressure is a huge one with me and quite often I will check while popping in for petrol.

To me your tyres are one of the most important parts of the car, if they are not right then they are just not safe, and when you think we are carrying around our children most of the time, a few minutes every now and then checking that your tyres are ok.  Unfortunately, due to my husband having an accident (not in the car) last year it has left him with a disability and so this has fallen on me to carry out these checks full time.

What if your tyres are not ok, what do you do then?  As a woman I know what it is like to pop into a garage or tyre company, some (not all) make you feel uncomfortable, or try to sell you something you do not need, or take advantage of your lack of knowledge. I don’t even know what model my car is I usually say it is a Silver Mercedes which is not very helpful and have to ask my husband who is forever telling me it is an S class.  But luckily this can be found from the registration number, if like me you are clueless.

There are companies around like point-s, who make it very easy, even if you have no idea on what size tyres you need, they can find them for you as you can see.

How to make the booking

As you can see it is very easy, and only takes a few minutes to navigate through the website.

I would ask everyone to take a few minutes next time they go out in their car to just have a quick check, this couple of minutes could prevent an accident happening. Also driving with defective tyres could result in a fine of up to £2500 and points on your licence.

I may not know about the mechanics of cars, and panic over the slightest noise, and can only put petrol in the car, but this is honestly something I do check on a regular basis.

Thank you for visiting x

    1. Thank you, tyres and brakes are my main things, I have no idea out anything else one of the boys is always going on at me about the mechanics of cars and I should learn, he is doing mechanics in college. But wheels are brakes to me are what can help stop an accident happening x
