The ups and downs of living with a teen

A Day Out Today

Today, I had a very rare day out with my daughter, just the two of us, well I say just the two of us, but we met up with her friend and her mum, for a trip to the cinema.

Now I do try to avoid these places like the plague, and do feel mean at times, but they are just such a rip off these days in my opinion. I did take sweets with us as feel £3.50 for a small bag of sweets or packet of popcorn is extortionate.  I did however, forget to take a drink with us, so as her friend was having a slushy I said my daughter could have one £4.69 later she has a drink, I nearly had a heart attack right there and then. I had to stagger over to Costa in shock to get myself a latte to help me recover.

We then took ourselves to our seats, and settled down to watch the movie, my friend suggested it.  We watched Paper Town, it was different to going and watching the animated films we usually watch, but we all enjoyed it and all thought the film would have a different ending.

After the film, we treated the girls to a McDonald’s, while we sat and chatted and talked about the film, and a variety of other subjects, before heading home, totally broke, but having enjoyed a bit of one on one time together.

I know going to the cinema is expensive but my daughter does love it, and as a treat every now and then, she is over the moon and makes me the best Mum ever.

Do you think that the cost of going to the cinema is expensive?

    1. I always smuggle sweets too, but couldn’t say no to her having a slush drink as her friend was having one, but the price shocked me. But the main thing is she enjoyed her day out and caught up with her friend x
