Today is day 10 of Blogtober 2018, and it is all about International Day of The Girl. Yes there is a day just for us girls to celebrate.
What is International Day of The Girl?
Celebrated annually on the 11th October, the aim of the day is to promote girl’s empowerment and fulfilment of their human rights. Whilst also highlighting the challenges that girls all over the world face.
I have thought about this post a lot, and have started writing it so many times, wondering which way to go with it, when I decided to talk about the kick ass girls/women in my life.
I have to start with my Mum, we have our ups and downs and can have some amazing arguments, but I could not wish for a better Mum. She has always been there for me, through every up and down I have had. She has shared every joy and every tear I have shed. Since C became ill, she has been our rock, stepping in and helping care for her, so we can take a bit of time out to recharge. We are extremely close, as is her and C.
My Grandma, I was very close to her, always staying with them in school holidays when I could, and in later years my grandparents moved in with us, we still stayed close, she was more like my second Mum than my Grandma. She was an amazing woman, who even when suffering with cancer still kept going strong. I miss her every day and my one regret is she never met C.
I have to say C, she may only be 14, but she amazes me every day, she has been through so much in this past 3 years, but she has kept her spirit there, it is sometimes hard to see, but it is there. She is stubborn and determined and will not give in.
Who are the inspirational women in your life?
