Bar + Block Kings Cross Review

If like me, you love going out for a lovely meal either with friends, family or your partner, so when I was recently invited to visit and review Bar+ Block Restaurant in Kings Cross, I could not refuse.

Arriving at the restaurant

On arrival to the restaurant, we found a very it was very busy. With noisy chatter and laughter of the diners and the staff buzzing around doing their jobs.  There were a few people in front of us in the queue, and everyone was met with a friendly smile and greeting.

Shown to our table

We were shown to our table and given our menus, and shown who are waitress would be, and what was currently not available (unfortunately one thing I had my eye on) on the menu and had the Butchers Block explained, which is changed monthly and offers something a little different from the main menu. We were also given a bowl of beef popcorn. You have to try this, popcorn to me has always had to be the normal sweet popcorn, but this was amazing.

The cocktails

We started off by chosing a drink from the drinks menu, I originally chose the Popcorn Martini, but sadly this was unavailable, so I chose the Candy Floss Martini, instead, and my husband chose a Strawberry Mojito.

Yes that is candy floss in the glass, and it tasted as good as it looks.

Our main meal

We both decided that we would have a dessert with our meal, we decided to omit having a starter. We both chose the Butchers Block for our mains. Which was a sirloin steak with garlic and chilli served with Beef Dripping Triple Cooked Chips.

I had already decided on the same meal, but wanted to swap the chips for Sweet Potato Fries and add a Trio of Peppercorn Sauce to. When I asked if I could swap the fries they were more than happy to oblige.

The steak was cooked to just how we had asked it to be.

Room for dessert

The desserts were amazing, and whenever I go out for a meal it is a common joke with family that I always look at the desserts first. I had already decided I wanted the Chocolate Churros Sundae. Sadly they had none left, so I oped for the Triple Chocolate Brownie and my husband went for the lighter option of Fruit Salad.  If you are a lover of chocolate you will love the brownie.  Sadly I have no pictures of the desserts as my camera lost them.

We finished our meal with a Bailey’s latte, while we chatted.

We do love eating out, but rarely have steak. As it is surprising how easily they can be ruined and not enjoyable. We went to a very nice steak restaurant for my husbands birthday. As he had been before and said it was the best meal he has had.  The meal was awful, as was the service and was very expensive.  So we went in with an open mind about what our experience was going to be.  We were both very impressed by the quality of the food. Even on a very busy Saturday evening, the quality was not compromised.  The staff were all very attentive and very friendly.  I know we will be visiting again.
