Do You Expect Good Customer Service?

Everyone who knows me, will know that I expect good customer service, no matter where I am.  I have been known to be a little vocal when I have not received good customer service as well.  My husband, children and even friends even tell me to just be quiet and let it drop before I have ever said a word.

For regular readers, who have been with me a long time, you may remember a post about customer service, in the space of 1 day I had received excellent customer service and dreadful customer service, if you have not seen the post you can find it here.

I have always worked in customer facing roles, whether that is face to face or on the telephone.  I know how hard it is to work with the public and believe me there have been times I have wanted to be rude and shout back.  But as they are the customer that was never an option, and because of this I do expect good customer service.

When I am the customer and go into a shop, I do not know about the person 5 minutes before who was rude, or that you have had a bad day, I am the hear and now.  Knowing what dealing with the public is nice I am always smiling and say hello or thank you, if a mistake is made and they apologise or I can see it is someone training and getting a bit flustered, I say don’t worry we all make mistakes, or have a bad day, or have to start somewhere.  Politeness does go a very long way with me.

But, when I get bad customer service, then I do complain, I am very polite and calm to start with, as I do know that errors can occur.  But when it is blatant they do not care and you get an attitude, then that is where I really start to complain, and I do take it further.

Sometimes, we have no option but to complain, and this is where I have found a great website called CCSN, where you can find the customer services number for a variety of companies and services, without having to search the internet to try and find a number.

I do also contact companies, if a member of their staff has given great customer service and gone beyond what they should to try to help, as I know just how much this can give you that boost that you are doing your job well.

Do you expect good customer service? Do you complain or do you just put it down to experience?

I agree we all make mistakes and all have bad days, but when you are in a customer facing role then you have to put that smile on your face x

I always expect good customer service as it’s such a key role in return custom. I’ve got a qualification in customer service so I do tend to look out for key things when I’m out and about especially being made welcome and having good manners. I’ve seen so many people who swear right in front of customers lately that its shocking! I don’t like those who have an attitude and you’re right to complain x

I totally agree, I am the same, one thing that gets me is when the person serving you is chewing gum and chatting to a colleague about random things and they expect you to be a mindreader on knowing how much the total is. That is when I stand there playing the waiting game

I usually expect good customer service, and I am disappointed when I don’t get it. I don’t really like complaining but will check the website if I need!

I expect good customer service, I am also known as the complainer if I need to, I do let a lot of things go though, so if I do complain I do it for a reason x

I have worked in customer service roles in the past and was even a customer service trainer and manager and just can’t tolerate bad customer service. I don’t see it as complaining, but rather letting the management know that there’s room for improvement.

I agree, I am always polite, even if I am so angry over something, I always apologise first to say I am so upset and angry and know this is not your fault but. Being polite is not hard and gets you a lot further in sorting out any problem x
