If your children are like mine were, you will have spent many hours sitting in various playgrounds, while your children play happily on the swings, slides and climbing equipment.
As a parent it is somewhere we take our children to get some fresh air, and let of some steam and hopefully tire them out.
When you take your child to a playground do you think of their safety, what will happen if they fall or hurt themselves. This happened to me once when my Daughter was about 5 or 6 years old. I had taken her to the playground with my Mum as she was bored and was asking to go. The park was quiet and she was having a great time and me and my Mum took it in turns to push her on the swing and watch her climbing. One piece of equipment she went on I had literally just told her to be careful, and she was hanging upside down and all of a sudden she fell head first. It was not a great height but even so the cry she let out went right through me. Luckily our GP surgery was close by so I scooped her up and we ran to the car and drove straight there. Luckily the nurse had just finished seeing a patient and we were whisked straight in, luckily no damage was done, but it scared me a little.
Luckily the playground was fitted with safety flooring like this, or I dread to think of the injury she would have faced.
Safety flooring is such a great addition to any playground or sports facility as it can stop injury, as I know, but did you know they come in a variety of colours and not just boring black. You can have any design or colour, you can see examples here. The wetpour rubber flooring is a cushioned surface, that is described as porous , which means that liquids can go into the surface. EPDM graphic inserts can be installed on the wetpour surface to produce original designs, all graphics can be tailored in size as well as design to suit any facility.
I know it is a few years since I visited playgrounds now, and am sure many of you will tell me your playgrounds have this flooring and in various colours. But this really is such a simple way to protect our children.
Have you ever had any scary moments with your children in a playground?
